Rumour Ollie Wines - will he go or will he stay?

While I think the rule is ridiculous as I watch journos practically shoulder to shoulder with players on the field tonight, Ollie knew the rules and that they would hit us like a freight train if we so much as looked the wrong way.

Doropolous should have his AFL accreditation cancelled because he broke the rule too.

Smacks of a Channel 7 set up.

Easily our most important player he will be missed.
Very important yes, and him leaving certain leaves a bit whole in the midfield. But I wouldn’t go that far, Dixon probably our most important.

And you’d think there will be a few that over take him soon.

That said he will certainly be missed and we need to make it very clear what the price for him is and anything less than that and he is here next year. If he doesn’t want to be here anymore he is absolutely playing for his next contract and should want to maximise that deal.

He's being sarcastic

Reckon people here are misunderstanding the AFL's policies here. These extreme policies aren't focused on health safety, but ensuring the AFL goes above and beyond in order to secure exemptions from standard lockdown rules like the border restrictions. That's critical and it means showing a plan that does not allow room for cases caused by slip ups.

Ollie slipped up, in a very very minor way. But I'll take a week suspension over a 2 week quarantine which would have been one of the other possible responses. There isn't a way for the AFL to let him play after breaching the Covid policy because the state governments will be watching very closely.

Just remember how we were initially not going to get to play rd 2 in Adelaide after the Crows ****ed up. That's the sort of damage these breaches have.

Did he ? How?
Quotes from Davies at his presser:

Ollie needs to own the fact that it happened and whatever happens from here will obviously happen.”

“The club was aware that the interview was going to happen so we could have been clearer in knowing where that was going to occur but ultimately in this situation Ollie should have known what the protocols are so this should have been avoided."

He didn't just throw Ollie under the bus, he backed it up over him.

Good. The club is clearly losing patience with him. One thing after the other.

The club supported him through the wakeboarding incident (livin' life and all that), but heaven forbid he gives an interview that the club knew about in an open air environment in a state of 1.7 million people with no active coronavirus cases and we're all like "he should've known better so we'll just stand back and let the AFL have their way with him".

Publicly they did but they were angry about that wakeboarding incident

Tredrea said that Ollie wasn’t going to be selected anyway which is the most concerning part of all of this. He’s supposed to be our most important midfielder, and we were gonna drop him.

I don't care if Ollie stays or goes, I felt when we traded Chad and signed Ollie long term we backed the wrong horse and I still feel that way, but that's irrelevant now.

If Ollie wants to salvage his career and become what he should've or looked like becoming in 2014/15 it's on him from here. People can blame the coaching, and whatever else but Ollie shoulders a lot of blame. From the skiing injury to a bone headed interview those incidents are his mistakes, no one else's. He isn't as important to the side as he once was now, and that would kick his ego a bit.

If he goes getting a first round pick and a few other picks is a positive with our recruiting the past few drafts so I think Ollie has more trade value then he does on field value now which is on him for the fall in standing in my opinion.
