THE Port Club will host a special One PAFC information night next Thursday 28 October from 7pm for all Power & Magpies members and supporters.

One PAFC: Putting Port Adelaide Back Together
PAFC and PAMFC Presidents & CEO’s will be joined by ‘OnePAFC’ ambassadors Tim Ginever and George Fiacchi to present an outline of the proposed One Club model and to answer any questions that you have regarding the proposal to re-unite the Port Adelaide Football Club.

Get there early to grab a meal from the new Port Club menu with lots of great new meals at great prices, and remember that ‘Talking Footy’ is held downstairs at the Port Club every Thursday evening to discuss all things sport.

DATE CHANGE: The One PAFC information night scheduled for tomorrow night has been changed to NEXT WEDNESDAY, November 3rd from 7:00pm at The Port Club. The club apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please help spread the date change to the Power faithful!

I can't go tonight but I really want to know a few things.

1. How likely is it to get up?
2. I know the jumpers will stay the same but what about the logo's?
3. How many curtain raisers are they planning for the Maggies?
4. Do they thing the 2 AFL teams will ever get a reserves. If so is it likley to be in the SANFL or a National reserves comp?

Don't forget folks. Info night is on tonight at 7 pm.

Details here.

I'll be going.

Yeah I'll be down there too, anyone know what the $8 steaks are like?

Thinking of getting down there early for a meal.

I think any question about the Maggies as a reserves side would be played with a dead bat by Haysman and Duncanson for this reason:-

Suggestions this might happen down the track will raise the hackles of the SANFL clubs. The proposal specifically states the Maggies will not be a reserves side in order to give the proposal the best chance of success.

Whenever I have eaten at the club its always good, the rib eye (not $8) is really good :)

Graham Cornes on AA just said that Port will forfeit the 1/9 stake in the SANFL under this proposal.

Anyone that is going might want to ask about this.

Me no likey. Given that AAMI is likely to be sold or redeveloped in a few years it means we will lose our share of the spoils.

We will lose the Magpie's share of the spoils. Which we wouldn't have anyway if the merger didn't go ahead.

This was described as rubbish. The SANFL clubs do not have a 1/9th stake each in the SANFL.

The only time the assets of the league could be divided up would be if it folded.

Much of what was discussed has already appeared on the clubs website.

We were told that the club did not brief the SANFL clubs during the current process as it was felt not to be useful. The briefings were done by the SANFL Commission and it's believed the clubs are much better informed this time round then they were last time.

Various issues were covered that have not appeared on the clubs website in relation to finances and other matters.

There was a request to be discrete and for members to maintain a calm and respectful demeanour in the lead up to the vote by the SANFL clubs including any presence outside the meeting.

I think it's best to leave it at that as this is a sensitive time. It's best to wait for whatever information the club wishes to put out on the website

That is a little bit naive by the club - so a few hundred loose lips won't sink ships:rolleyes: We are talking about a footy club aren't we?

Probably but I'm not going to contribute. I think the main concern was that there not be a confrontational approach outside any meeting and an avoidance of anything that looks like the club thinks this proposal's acceptance is a fait accompli.

I went down and was pretty impressed by the presentation tonight. A couple of positives on the horizon if the proposal goes through. Talks of a sponsorship to be announced and SANFL and AFL support for it, actually that it has largely been driven by the SANFL itself.

The piece of information that made me smile the most, and correct me if I heard wrong, is that if ONE Port happens we will be the only AFL team represented from junior right through to AFL level? Very cool!

Right...so you want the crows portion of the 1/9 distribution that the Maggies would get to go to the ONE PAFC? ...that will go down well.

Huh?

The Crows aren't an SANFL member club and do not receive a distribution.

True. By 'our' I was referring to the Magpies in this case. The magpies have a share in the equity of the SANFL that would be lost if merger goes ahead. Kind of "you can merge the clubs, but you can't take it all with you".

Went but had to leave 45 mins in for another engagement.

I don't think it's going to work..It will probably get up, but I have a gut feeling it just won't work...

The divide between the two is too great.

And the pysche of all involved is too fractured...if that makes sense.

I got a totally different feeling, they seemed quietly confident that this would go through and be a great thing for the club. No idea where you are getting this great divide and fractured psyche thing from... from what I saw 99% of people seem to be on the same page.
