OPEN LETTER TO TREVOR NISBETT

Dear Mr Nisbett,

Just who do you think you are? Do you think you're bigger than football? I bet you do, don't you? Becuase only someone with a head as fat as yours, woud be pig-headed enough to get in the way of what could possibly be the greatest comeback of an AFL Footballer in VFL / AFL History!

Can you see how people are viewing you? Do you care what people in the know, such as current and ex football champions think? Do you care what your senior coaching personnel think? What about us members who've been there since the beginning? Do you care what we think?

Most importantly, do you care about Ben Cousins? You know, the spiritual leader of our once fine football club, back when we won games of football. Ben Cousins is part of the reason you have a job Trevor! It's the many years of hardwork, dedication, sweat, tears and glory that Ben put into his job (and guys who looked up to Ben and based their careers on Ben's) that gave you the opportunity to become who you are.

Do you care that Ben is / was sick and that most people in society generally tend to look after sick people? Have you ever kicked a sick family member or pet to the curb if they disappointed or hurt you? Well you're doing it right now! What a disgrace you have become Trevor! At what point did you decide to be so selfish?

You have the opportunity to change what happened, to turn a negative into a positive and to show the football world that West Coast cares for it's people, no matter what. But you continue to have knee-jerk reactions to things that are said in the media.

Now that's another story. How can someone in your position let the media direct your actions? You fall into their trap every time anything is said about West Coast or Ben Cousins in the media. Did you ever stop to think that perhaps it would be best to avoid making stupid selfish comments the very next day? Maybe you should give this some thought, or the media might turn on you next, calling for your job! Oh but that's exactly what's happening now isn't it!

Can you see the irony in that Mr Nisbett? Do you even know what irony is? If you don't do what is right for West Coast as a team and an organisation right now by reinstating Ben Cousins (if and when the AFL approve him), the members of West Coast will be calling for YOUR head for the next twelve months.

How would that feel?

Firstly, Nisbett was at West Coast long before Ben and secondly, to help your cause I have contacted the Spice Girls. Your opening line inspired them.

Muppet.

Those who chastised the OP should show some respect.

Nobody needs to re-explain the God-like status Ben Cousins had at the West Coast Eagles. He was a hero to all you fans.

Its harder for some to let go (as some of you have demanded the OP to do). People are different and not everybody agree's with the decision or dubious circumstances with wich he was delisted in.

When Judd pissed off, I was over his migration in a matter of days. This, whilst alot of you remain bitter and angry about his decision (something that I accepted).

So everybody reacts differently. If you cant understand the OP's fustration and sadness then you are not truly a fan - because only a die-hard supporter of any club could appreciate the heartache which a departing champion could inflict upon his followers.

Yeah, because they totally ignore the damage he did to your club.

Those Ben Cousins lovers must truly be West Coast fans.

I wonder sometimes whether some West Coast supporters support their club or just Ben Cousins.......

No matter how many times he drags his and his club's name through the mud, its always "give him another chance, everyone deserves another chance and if he stuffs up this time he's gone".

Seriously, get the **** over it!

Dont give me that crap, Carlton would be in the box seat with a 3 million dollar deal for cousins if you did not pinch Judd off us.

I stopped reading when I got to the "once fine football club" bit.

Why do you think it is not "fine" anymore??????:rolleyes:

Just quietly it's not because of Nisbett.

Maybe, just maybe, it is because of it's so called "spiritual leader" leading many of it's young players astray.

I am a WCE supporter through and through. However, calls for Cousins to return are misguided to say the least.

Firstly, there is the risk highlighted so well above - if Cousins stuffs up again it will set the club back 10 yrs. No player is worth that risk.

Secondly, WCE's supporters must realise the club is now in a rebuilding phase. If everything went perfectly we are a good 3-4 yrs at least away from a flag. Given this why would we want to waste a draft pick or playing spot for a guy who (no matter how good he is now) will not be the sole difference between a flag and a mediocre result now and in all probability will not be there when the time comes to make a run at a flag.

Ignore the emotion in a triumphant Cousins return and look at the facts.

For everyone telling the OP to "build a bridge" and get over it

1. 70% of people have voted to get cousins back to the club (televised poll)
2. Pertitions have been created by supporters to be presented to the board
3. Past champions of the club have asked the board to consider cousins coming back
4. Cousins and his family have both (allegedly) agreed that ben would play with WC if asked
5. Sumich and Worsfold have both stated that they would like cousins to come back to the club
6. Senior Eagles players (including coxy) have also stated they would like ben back at the club

To everyone who does not want Ben back at the club, you are in the minority and your sentiments are not shared by some of the most learnered and respected coaches/supporters/players of the club.

To the people who continuosly sprout that Ben wont be at the club next year. We know that it would be a stretch and the board would have to do a complete backflip but we would still like to vent our dissapointment at the decision so I hope that you all realize your stating the flipping obvious.

And yes this is an open forum and as such we are allowed to voice our opinion.

I agree with the OP. I think Ben should definitely go back to the Eagles. Imagine him and Kerr together again, it brings a tear to my eye. And Trevor Nisbett should be sacked without a doubt. He is standing in the way of a great Eagles comeback, remove him immediately.

Ahh, just when I thought the art of the rhetorical question was dead, BANG! 17 in one post.

As much as I'd love to see Ben in Eagles colours again, I know it isn't going to happen, and it's got to the point where I just want him to play football again, no matter who for.

Best of luck to him.

Not all Eagles supporters see it this way.
Many of us realise Couzo has had more than one chance in his career at the Eagles and at some stage you need to know when to say enough is enough.
It would be bigger than Ben Hur (see what I did there) to see him back at the eagles and finish his career as an all time legend, but it aint gonna happen.

Maaaaaate- you got in one (errrr -six) Cuz was cut loose from the WCE before natural justice was served - that was the thing that sticks in most Eagles supporters neck- but given he's like a cat with nine lives I reckon he's only got a couple to go before he's run over.

The thing other supporters from the other clubs need to realise losing Cuz from West Coast is akin to losing G. Ablett Jr from the Cats, Capt Kirk from the Swans, James Hird (Son of God) or Bucks from the Pies (notice I didn't say Didak- but probably in reality closer to Cuz!!!)

The thing thats hard for every passionate supporter to take is to lose players who in essence create the fabric of a club's era. Imagine Peter Matera having played in a Demons jumper-ouch that would not be right.

Yourewrong- classic spice girls mate just classic!!!

please don't generalise us. There are a few braindead f***wits who value passion and emotion above rational thought, almost like women ;)

Lol. A televised Poll? Let me guess it was on channel 7? You do realise these types of polls are ridiculous. The only people taken into account are those who can be arsed phoning up.

But go on. It's fun to see muppets in their natural habitats.

Oh dear cat food for the grannies next month after they get their phone bill and realise that their 100 calls were charged at a premium rate.
