Tom Harley "Open Mike"

It's half time in the interview with Tom Harley. nothing short of a great interview with Mike. Easy to see why he is the captain of the Cats. Anyway going back to watch the second half. If you haven't watched the first half, go and watch the rest.

Re: Tom Harley "On the Couch"

Top performance by Tom. Came across as "down to earth", realistic bloke who has great leadership.

Adds a huge amount to the team and I reckon the cats will miss him as Capt when he retires, more than they think.

Re: Tom Harley "On the Couch"

we had no good leaders early in the decade I was worried when Harley was announced captain but my god one of the great cat captains. He has done me proud.

Re: Tom Harley "On the Couch"

I think he has made all of us proud; his actions, words and pure honesty show that the GFC board made such an amazing and courageous choice for our Captain. Originally there was a lot of people on this board whom had some quite strong criticism of Tom, mainly as we have had a number of Captains in the past who were injured and barely there. I'm very happy that the board stuck with their choice and didn't budge one inch, he has been fantastic as a leader for such a young group.

Thought the interview was great, I have a lot of respect for Tom, very honest, intelligent and passionate about the club. Hope he gets back soon!

When King stepped down and the clup appointed Harley ..I said WTF? I then heard him speak and speak and speak. I the space of 2 days he made more statements and more sense than King did in 2 years. He said (after 2006) that it wasnt good enough, its our fault and we need to fix it (we being the players). I quickly xchanged my tune and think he is the best Captain we have had (Leader that is) that I can remember.

Ah, so now it's those outside the club that rate him higher than those internally

Wasn't trying to troll mate. I liken it to Crawf leaving the Hawks at the end of 08. Think it will be a big loss, where we will miss him "more than we think".

Respect Tom hugely and think he is generally under-rated by a lot of people, media etc...(includes some(not all) Cats fans I know).

No doubt you know better than me, as you follow the club.

I would have had him as AA Capt in a heartbeat last year, in particular over Judd

I remember the day Tom got appointed captain; he had an extended interview on SEN, and it was quite simply the most honest, informed and realistic statement that I had ever heard out of the club. And for me, the most memorable and defining statement about football that I had ever heard.

Actually gave me goosebumps, talking about how they had lost respect from their peers in 2006, and without respect, you are nothing, and you feel like nothing and play like nothing.

I went from cynic to convert in about 15 minutes.

Re: Tom Harley "On the Couch"

He said "not his kettle of fish"

It's funny but I was thinking about how he'd go as a coach last night before the doco, and I decided he probably wouldn't want to do it. However, I reckon he'd be not a bad replacement for Cooky, if he can be put under Frank's wing for a while. And yeah I know Frank is saying that he wants to hang up the boots soon...
