You realise that Dusty's goal last week will be coached out of the game?

Any risky shot won't be taken. Penalty for kicking a point means the ball gets bombed over the centre. Especially when it's tight but generally this will disappear from the game.

Defences will clog up the inside 50 corridor because that's the only spot attackers will want to shoot from.

So we'll get significantly fewer spectacular goals from the boundary, or anything greater than a 45 degree angle.

Which will lead to fewer shots in total, which leads to lower scores.

Is that what we want?

AFL and the yes men can only focus on the kickouts...NFI about the unintended consequences.

Richmond is not hitting the panic button after Dustin Martin left training early this morning.

Cameras from the AFL website captured Martin doing a series of short run-throughs on the sidelines before heading into the rooms while his teammates completed match simulation in the closed session.

But Richmond football boss Neil Balme said Martin is "fine".

“Dusty did exactly what we planned for him to do. There’s nothing wrong with him at all," he told the Herald Sun.

“They’re all on their own programs. If they train together it’s more of a coincidence than anything else."

Kane Lambert also completed a modified session today after he returned form an ankle injury against Hawthorn last week.

Martin was Richmond's best player in all three finals last year and arguably best on ground in last week's qualifying final win.

He has been remarkably durable, missing only a handful of games since his debut in 2010 on his way to becoming the youngest Richmond player to reach the 200-game milestone.

Richmond will play the winner of tomorrow night's Collingwood vs GWS Giants semi-final at the MCG next Friday night.
