I think when comparing us to the better teams the most notable difference for me is that they have better ball distributing players. So players who are skilled by foot who are surgeon like in their delivery. The Pies for example have the Daicos brothers, Pendles, Crisp.

When you look at the squad we put out on the park against the Swans, who would you want the ball in the hands of to execute this task. It probably used to be Dusty but he is now in the forward half. Rioli is capable but his role is more a running half back and does at times distribute but his main task is run, link and carry. Short I think is probably the closest thing we have and of course he is out injured. Others in our back half have turned into clanger kings i.e Grimes, Floss, Balta.

Every team has a skilled distributer, the better sides have a few but I think at the moment until some of the younger guys develop/gain experience, e.g Sonsie, Clarke, Banks, it appears for now this deficiency is going to hurt us badly and result in higher than average turnovers. Hence maybe why we have gone handball crazy all of a sudden in an attempt to retain possession and transition the ball in a different way.
