The choices they come up with under the banner of "greatest games ever" must be chosen completely at random. There's some absolute stinkers in there. They even had the 1980 GF as one of the best grand finals ever. Now, to us it was an awesome performance, but there's no way you could describe an 81 point hiding as a great game and keep a straight face.

it was like a simulation of corruption starting with the massive soft duck gift free kick and goal right infront by nick softcos in the first quarter and ending with an advantage call to the bears when there was zero advantage. umps wear earpieces too lmao
also stand rule/4th umpire dissent era footy is like under 10s footy mixed with netball

It's all about the ratings though. Richmond have a huge following so a lot of people are going to tune into watch the 1980 grand final.
Except its a subscription based streaming business. I guess they have ads also and eyeballs win whatever your platform.
Must be some bored punters out there that want to watch that again.

Blues will win it this year. Have shown enough form for the umps to get them over the line without it appearing completely corrupt. AFL goal here is monetizing latent supporter bases. Blues have been starved of success so long many of have dropped away, nothing like gifting them a flag to bring them back for their cash. Will be Bombers turn as soon as they aren't so shit that it's completely obvious what the AFL are doing. It's a business, there is zero sporting integrity to be expected.

the problem with the corrupt afl is theyve appeared completely corrupt since the stand rule/4th umpire era came in
they use the rule changes to get their desired outcome in almost all important games. why dont we get umpired like colonwood , carltoon , scats or the footscrazy bullfrogs

No money in it for the AFL if St Kilda win it but they know Carlton or Essendon winning means $$$. They are also still trying to increase NSW & QLD fan base so will always help those sides stay strong.

That, along with the ridiculous ruck nomination and allowing defenders to run 30-40 metres without bouncing the ball from the goal square are the worst decisions I've seen.

I don't mind the ruck nomination rule Hoos. It's stopped campaigners like Dangerfield deliberately running into oppo players at ball-ups and getting gifted a free kick for blocking. The umps weren't smart enough to know they were gaming the system.
The one that allows defenders to run out 30+ metres (but not Rhyan Mansell it seems) is definitely ridiculous though.

That could be stopped though, if the umpires had any sort of feel for the game. Sadly, we know they don't.
The one I forgot is players who are tackled simply dropping the ball and the fu€kwit umpires call play on. That rule can be sorted out pretty quickly; if you're tackled with the ball and you do not even attempt to get rid of it: holding the ball. Or it could be even simpler; if you're caught in possession and cannot handball or kick it: holding the ball.
It won't happen though. Much better to go against the basic rules of the game and allow players to run 30 metres without bouncing or simply drop the ball when tackled.
