Yep. When shit goes south for us our mods are very quick to make a public warning. Even if other boards aren't as diligent don't be silly by liking melts.Yes you can ..
Think he was one of the first "athlete footballers" in the early 90s, before the AFL community sort of realised that (at least in the track and field sense) most of them were actually "athlete-non-footballers"...There was quite the hype about him iirc.
But ‘butcher’ was a fairly accurate name given his disposal skills!

Saints fan on the MB game thread when the resting of King was questioned.Would rest Marshall if we were throwing it.
Ross genuinely believes we can win this (minus King) reading his presser.
Hayes is no spud and has the ability to turn games.
Saints fan on the MB game thread when the resting of King was questioned.
Had never really heard much about Hayes, so I looked him up. Thought he must be a promising new kid...
27yo, played a total of 5 career games, all last year, and kicked 6 goals.
Kicked 3 goals in his first game, which was a loss. So, kicked 3 goals in his other 4 games, with no more than 1 in a game.
Well, maybe he's killing it in the VFL...
8 goals in 4 games.
He kicked 6 goals in round 22 against Williamstown. Maybe that's the game he turned... they led for the whole game and the margin never dropped below 20pts after quarter time.
So, he appears to have played a total of 9 games in two years, across VFL and AFL and I can find no other stats for him beyond that.
Maybe he's turning games at training?
Saints supporters are all up and about in the game thread.
One tried to claim that they play well at the Gabba, which was based on them going 8-5 in their past 13 games there.
The problem with that? 5 of those games were between 2010-2015 (meaningless). 7 of those games were in 2020 during the Covid bubbles, against neutral teams at a neutral venue, so offers very little in regards to form. Their only 2 games against the actual home team in that 8 game stretch from 2020 to now, were both losses. Prior to that, they haven't played the Lions there since 2015.
Others aren't worried about resting King, but would be worried if they were resting Marshall or Sharman (King is also overrated - from one of their own supporters).
One would rather have King available for an away final, than play him and push for a home final.
Another thinks they have a forward line primed for finals and has tipped Saints by 72pts, despite Lions being no pushovers on their home turf.
I mean, good luck to them. Doesn't bother me if they win, just means that we have to win ours, which is preferable anyway, but not sure where all the confidence has come from. All of their wins since round 14 have come against bottom 8 sides and they've lost 3 games to top 5 sides, as well as GC & Tigers (5-5 in last 10). Maybe they're trying to convince themselves...
Have just had one of them confirm that he was a mature aged recruit from the SANFL, so that explains why I couldn't find any stats for him in the places I was looking.Saints fan on the MB game thread when the resting of King was questioned.

Saints supporters making up positive stuff about their club? That’s not like them at all.
The amount of smack some of their posters were dishing out before we last played them was ridiculous.
They exist in another football dimension, one where they don’t have the sh***test record of any club known to man!!!! And one where more than their 15k supporters actually give 2 shits about that meaningless rabble!

Leigh Montagna said today “the saints are in great form and are playing their best footy at the right time”. Didn’t realise winning your last 5, all against bottom 8 teams, including the bottom 3, could be classified as “great form”
At least he’s not the next Messi …there's a big bloke debuting for geelong this week and to listen to the hype, he's clearly the next polly farmer...........
They are going to be seriously exposed for the one week they will be in the finals. Can’t wait to see which club will be the ones to kick the s**t out of them

Played 20 games in 2021 and got just under 20disp a game at 60% and kicked just over 1 goal a game at 52%. Did get 26disp and a goal in the GF against Glenelg.
Similar stats in 2020 off 15 games, but just under 18disp.
Had a few standout games, but seems very inconsistent. Not sure about turning games though. Certainly hasn't shown that ability at the top level. Not enough to claim it as an attribute.
Nothing strange about that. Fact“McGrath is a below average AFL player”
From the * game day thread
pretty spot on assessmentoff the * board:
Not even mad, as I really don't think I give a s**t about the club anymore.
We aren't a serious football club
Typical end of a season, players not caring. The club will go silent during finals and then we'll let Parish go and start some puff pieces on what a good oppurtunity it is going to the draft with early picks. Then we'll draft some skinny flankers who can't kick but pretend they were always going top of the draft. We'll release some photo's of players training in summer and how it's the hardest pre-season they have ever done, then the season will start the season and the circle of bullshit will continue.
It's all just so predictable
And the circle of bullshit will continue. What beautifully poetic words.off the * board:

The amazing thing is, if we do finish above the Cats it will be the first time in exactly 20 years we have finished higher than them
How is it possible with a salary cap for one club to finish ahead of another for 20 bloody years? It takes a special kind of incompetence.
I did a calculation and, presuming it is 50/50 each year, the chances of one club finishing above another for 20 consecutive years is 1 in 1,048,576
We literally achieved a one in a million. Well done Essendon.
