I’d love Cats to get reemed over it.
Unfortunately, given he’s nominated Cats, the trade discussions have already been had I guess.
I doubt the Dogs have agreed to anything. They will want more than the Cat’s first.

I hope it goes down to the wire and no trade is done.

Sounds like a bit of hyperbole here. His form was down and he was unhappy at the dogs mainly because of Bevo playing him out of position, but I’ve never heard any muttering of him considering his future in the game.
Definitely hyperbole, but no one is drafting a kid who is playing poorly because the coach is playing them in a position they don't want to. Hes shown that he can be a star at the level unlike a draftee, but it definitely makes him more of a risk. It's a risk I'd take in a heartbeat, like Stringer or Clarry, but it's not the attitude you want in your culture.

I’ll never understand the media from one day to the next. Why was Petracca thinking about leaving Melbourne any different to the hundreds of other player movements that happen? And the vitriol he was copping from idiots in the media was mind blowing? Yet questionable types like Oliver and Smith get their balls tickled by the same media morons to pump up their trade values. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Clarry has issues. I think they all feel a bit sorry for him and aren't willing to go there.

More hyperbole here. There’s nothing to suggest he was playing poorly because he didn’t want to play the position he was given. You play a natural midfielder in an unnatural position and the inevitable result is that their form will suffer. Him being unhappy isn’t the likely reason for his form being poor. For all intents and purposes it was probably the other way around.

You would think Richmond are looking for some senior bodies to make them competitive next season.

They have lost - Dusty, Grimes, Baker, Rioli, Naismith, Bolton, Graham, Pickett.

That's 8 regular senior players.

Surely Finlay Macrae and Ash Johnson should be considering a move to Richmond. Good opportunity for a multi year deal.

Geelong is clever, they make the idea seem like it's Olivers .

Someone get Michael Gleeson some pom poms "How can Geelong do it again" article.

You can guarantee if it was us, the narrative would either be Melbourne must hold firm or how can Melbourne extract the best deal for Oliver. There would never ever ever be article with a Pies flavored narrative
I can picture him now with the Pom Pom’s and cheerleader outfit “Oh Mackie you so fine, you so fine you blow my mind oh Mackie”

"...won't define us" 🤣

I've got news for Brodie. It's exactly how Swobbles are being defined.

Jon Hamm Yes GIF

That would be gold.
I’m just worried that Smith and his manager wouldn’t nominate a club unless they knew exactly how the deal would be done in advance so there’s no chance of it falling through. To know that, the clubs would have already spoken and at least gave a handshake agreement.
It’d be pretty awkward nominating a club and ending up having to play elsewhere.

That’s pretty speculative, and seems like the opposite of Melbournes public stance of he won’t be traded.

Why would Melbourne do a salary dump when they have no cap issues and have no players wanting to come to their club that would cause said issues?
You’re right. Melbourne are more likely to pay his wage to acquire a good player (like SDK) that fills a need or pick/s they can use.

We were in the top 4 in June before the season fell apart after the bye

Would've been good to play and beat them in the GF to go b2b. 88 years since the last Pies-Swans Grand Final at the time Sydney were then South Melbourne.
