I can't see this working. At all. That pi55sed me off... Did the hard yards, carried the club on his back for years just for goodwin to pick his favorites over him. Similar to tarkyn/leon (replay)/ medhurst for us in 2010. Call me old school but veterans who do the hard yards in the rebuilding years should be rewarded with a premiership, not the youngens.
I can't see this working. At all.
Guy leaves club with completely broken relationships.
Then 2 years later comes back to work not only with the people he has a beef with, but take over the part of Melb that has THE 2 most disgruntled players in the AFL, who he used to play with.
With no genuine coaching experience.
it would be akin to us brining Trelor back to coach mids under Buckley.
...but with both Pendles & JDG trying to leave the club because they are disaffected with club.
...how isn't this going to end badly?
Settle, there won’t be riots
Vic based supporters will still have the same number of MCG games (and MCG home games) they can attend because a Queensland game would be taken from one of our home Marvel games. And they’ll be able to attend more games than the home supporters of most other clubs.
Collingwood is a national brand so it’ll be a packed stadium of locals supporting Collingwood wherever we play. All the more so in Queensland where we have a decent following.
And if Collingwood do go ahead with this, they’ll be smart about it and do it on their own terms, just like they’ve done with Swans games. ie: before the AFL impose it on them as a result of the competitive review.
What “do it on their own terms” looks like is scheduling it in school holidays in the height of winter to make it accessible and appealing to Vic based supporters to fly up and attend.
Or, because he is mates with them and is disgruntled....he convinces them to leave and undermines the guys he's p1ssed at.Totally agree.... Except its even worse for jones, 300 game player, and lead them through probably the darkest period in their history, the geelong blowout, mark neeld etc.....
Its damage control for sure, bring him in and hope he convinces trac and clayt to stay
He's developing a history as one of the worst CEOs everMelbourne CEO resigns as Demons turmoil continues
Gary Pert will leave his role as Melbourne CEO by the end of the yearwww.afl.com.au
Not sure how outsiders can assess CEO performance, but by the measuring stick of financial success and flags, he has overseen two pretty successful clubs. Two stints of 10 and 6 years means he did plenty right. He's developing a history as one of the worst CEOs ever

Bad CEOs get punted quickly.
Popularity contests are bogus. Always rigged. Also being a CEO is not a popularity contest.
