After the 1984 Preliminary Final, Essendon jumped over Carlton for me and continues to sit on my most detested of all clubs. The 1990 Semi Final, the Grand Final after that, and Jamie Elliott "Arms in the Air" last season all bring tears to my eyes in the purest of joy.

The hatred for the Blues knows no bounds.
Bombers helped us break our drought in 1990 for which I’m forever grateful.

Glad you mentioned the 1990 semi final. It never gets enough credit. It was a fun game to watch such a smashing ….and without the nervous energy of watching a grand final.

I probably hate Essendon more, but will be barracking for them. Essendon are going along as the irrelevant team that they've been since the drug scandal - a win or a loss, who rarely cares. Whereas the Blues demoralisation this year has been glorious, because their hope was off the charts.

For me growing up in Essendon it’s Dons first then Blues.

Though not sure where my despise of Geelong comes from.
