So today on our home deck the 17th side of 2021 beat the 15th side of 2021. Who's rebuild is going better?

Much older list demographic and without Daicos they aint in the 8. Looks like he's going to be the best first year player ever. 40 disp and 3 goals playing mostly back is cooked.

Their best 22 has 10 players who are over 28.

Our best 22 has 3 excluding Seedsman and Sloane - Walker, Smith & Laird.

Their list is no different to last year where they should have play finals if not for Buckley. They have very good experience top end players who are still performing compared to Walker and are much more experience then us.

We are bottom 4, maybe bottom 6, thats where we belong for this, next and probably the year after. The 2020-2023 crops going forward our best shot at developing a list to win a premiership. 2010s top picks are dead except for Fog and Doedee. We don't even have any small forwards we're confident will be best 22 players. Our KPDs played 40 games combined. We play the youngest most inexperienced 22 in the comp.

These completely bottom out rebuilds can take 5-7 years. Look at Carlton, Saints, Melbourne, Freo, Brisbane, all s**t for 5+ years. Hawks/WC didnt get elite talent in the draft and now they're going to take ages to compete again.
We need to see if Newchurch is an AFL small forward, he has all attribute and had another good game in the SANFL, McAsey could replace Walker when he retire end of next year then play Himmelberg with Thilthorpe and trade out ROB. We do need to find another KPD but Midfield is looking very promising with the young players developing in the SANFL so need to trade out either Keays (more prefer) or Laird as they have currency to free up a midfield spot for them.

Imagine if they hadn’t traded their first pick to GWS as well, they could have ended up with Callaghan and Daicos!

🤯
Im very disappointed that Edwards and McLeod's kids never amounted to anything, its such an advantage for teams to have a quality Father-Son pick, thats basically for "free".

Its probably one of the only ways to beat the draft system and to get ahead of other Clubs.

Mark Riccuito's son is probably too young to know whether he could be good or not?

He has 3 sons now? Aged ~10,13 and 15?

Yes daicos has had no impact #basicfacts

Go back one more year to 2019. Collingwood played finals and we won the spoon. They clearly underperformed in 2020. As also mentioned above, they play a much older and more experienced 22 than us generally

Let’s give credit where it’s due

Brown, Frampton and Crouch now appear to have played their last game for us

Can’t help but think Smith is next one lined up

Expect Sloane to get games next year in his farewell tour.

Sadly it’s the last of Seedsman for us as well.

The regeneration is happening.
As I’ve said a couple times, the talent is there, it’s just not clear if they’re being coached well enough.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that in a wet game where tactically the game was simplified we performed really well against a much more experienced side. Berry and Thilthorpe in particular I think we’re super impressive.

I do think that Nicks has the playing groups trust and can motivate them, tactically I think he’s lacking, and I’m not sure he has the confidence to be a bit more ruthless at selection, probably needs a Mark Williams type to help him out.

Here’s a question with no answer.

If you’re a guy like Pedlar, Cook and the club thinks you could be a key player in our next flag, what is the best environment for your first 25 games for the club:

1. In the AFL team, getting beat most weeks chasing the other team and not being able to play your game? Or

2. In the SANFL team with your fellow first and second year players playing against semi professionals but with the space and pace to be able to work on your craft?

I can see the club leaning towards 2, especially working towards finals this year.

C. Lets give them a mix and see how they go

I don't think all is lost, but it is time for the club to acknowledge it isn't going as planned.

We need to hit the FA and even trade in some elite 30+ players to help correct the ship.

I'm talking about guys that can and are happy with 1 or 2 more seasons as your Luke Hodge style retirement plan.

We have plenty of youth, but our older players are the issue, there needs to be some older players who are actually talented that can help develop the younger players.

You can argue the rebuild is going as plan given the young player's development and performance in the SANFL, we still need another KPD and elite midfielder (might be Taylor or Pedlar) coming through and transition the poor performing senior players in Smith and Brown (both have been very poor this season). Sloane will more than likely play out his last season and contract next year coming back from an ACL and Seedsman with long affect of concussion. Need to somehow find a trade for Crouch whether that's paying for all of his final contract next year or maybe trade out either of Laird or Keays as they currently have a lot more trade currency and also trade ROB with our ruck combination of Thilthorpe and Himmelberg going forward.

And that's a good point with the SANFL, we just need to be rewarding those who play well.

Hopefully over the next 6 weeks we see that.

We are going to get another top 3/4 pick so another elite player hopefully.

We at the moment just lack class. Berry, Soligo, Rachele look likely plus Tilthorpe so we have got the last two drafts correctly. We drafted in Dawson last year and need to do that again this year.

We can get there and think decisions like the one we have made re: Crouch have been the first step.

Definitely Newchurch and Taylor both have to get a run in the AFL. Would even look at trading Murphy as we can't play McHenry, Rowe and Murphy in the same team and Newchurch has all the offensive attributes compared to the others needed to succeed as a small forward in the AFL. Murphy's does as well and his good is very good as evident against Collingwood so will have trade currency.

I would hope the trade out of Crouch is via a player, not a draft pick, as unlikely as that is.

I'm sure Mutineer has his eyes on what talent we should be looking at, but I'm not sure the club has yet woken up to the fact our midfield is poor. Which is where my concern about pick 4 or 5 being blown comes from.

Just for you I will post the ladder at the end of every round. If I forget no doubt I can rely on you to remind me.

Hey bicks (Mutineer ), you used this stat as a contra argument against something that GreyCrow put forward. Did you continue to post the ladder each week as promised? If not, why not? Did you seriously think that we had the coaching group and best 22 required to push up the ladder this year? Obviously you were cockahoop after 3 rounds believing that everything was brilliant at the club, but what about now.

In a few sentences, can you explain why you thought that a weekly posting of the ladder would progress whatever argument that you were making at the time.

Tex reckons we need to bring in help for the midfield, hello Hamish, what have you been doing?

Roo then says the rebuild is not finished, no shit. That’s what happens when you blow picks.

Roo then says the rebuild is not finished, no s**t. That’s what happens when you blow picks.
Tex's idea of bringing in help is probably just playing Matt Crouch
