As a Melbourne resident and regular attendee at Port away games in Victoria, I have to say that it was one of the best port crowds I've seen. Though we were perhaps made to look even louder by an incredibly tame and subdued essendon mob.

I was astounded at how quiet they were all day.

Did you go to the pre-match or after-match at Bells? If so give us a report.

I am open for others who attended to give their feedback as any feedback would be great. However as one of the organisers of the Pre & Post Match function and the VP of the Victorian Supporters Group here is a quick spill.

We had a little over 80 attend the pre match function which was a fantastic effort considering this was the first time we have had a pre match function using the format that we did. We were lucky enough to have Port Board members in Alex Panas, David Basheer & Nick House available for all to talk to for about half an hour. David spoke for about 5 minutes to the whole crowd updating us with things that are currently happening at the club.

A gourmet BBQ lunch was served and a quiz took place as well as a lucky dip for all children who attended. Overall once again the VSG were extremely happy and will look to build on the 80 people that attended at the upcoming game.

I thought the Post match function was excellent and clearly one of the greatest attended post match function in Victoria that I can remember. The room was pumping and full. We had Brett Duncanson speak briefly about how things were coming along at the club, followed by Peter Rhode who spoke to Jackson Trengrove & Troy Chaplin. Overall I think both functions were great and encourage all travelling over to get to both to support the VSG & PAFC.

I was there and it was fantastic. Gotta love our fans, always make heaps of noise. Was siting on centre wing (just behind our interchange bench) and there were only a few of us in that area but the voice was awesome. Happen to be on the same flight going over as the team which pumped me up even more....(Bobby is a Champ:thumbsu:)
Will be going over again this year at some stage.

Can't wait for Sunday

It was one of the loudest away game crowds I can remember hearing on TV.

How many people went over on the buses provided by Gordan Pickard's subsidy?

I know that about 5 of the NSW supporter group flew down for the game and joined up with the Cheer squad, Outer Army, Vic supporter group members and others behind the goals left of screen.

Well done on all those who attended and used their voices. :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Also sounds like good pre and post match functions.

RE: The buses

Two premier stateliner buses went over, both were full. Im not sure how many the buses seat though, I'd assume atleast 55 seats or so a bus very few spare seats.

Was sitting up on level 3 but made my way down for some random Port fan hugging after the siren behind the goals. :thumbsu:

Haha, don't tell me you were the bloke wearing the guernsey that came down at about 10 min to go in the last quarter and sat infront of me and my girlfriend (she was wearing a fluffy black russian winter hat). If so, I was the bloke with the camo cap on haha.

Great effort to all those that went. :thumbsu:

As someone commented in another thread when the club with the second or third biggest following in Victoria can only get 29K to a game at The Dome they have no right to criticise our crowds.

But then the Adelolz Cows only got 31K yesterday in perfect conditions.

..... I was driving across the hay plane and the noise was great. ........
I guess the jet engines on the hay plane (sic) would be rather noisy :p

What tree? :rolleyes::D
:D

What it shows is time slots mean alot in Adelaide and Victorians support footy when it invloves two Victorian teams, otherwise the supporters doesn't give a stuff.

FYI courtesy of Pickard there could have been three had the demand been there from people who met the requirements. It has been a very successful initiative, it will be interesting to see if demand will rise - especially with the work being done by the Victorian Supporter Group to maximise the experience. Personally I'm getting a bit old for o/night bus trips but it would be nice to see the effort here being rewarded.

My brother inlaw went over for the game. He went to both pre and post match function.

He said that there were so many people back at the post match at Docklands that it looked like they were going to run out of beer. He warned one of the senior bar staff of the possible problem. She responded with a, we have had many post game functions here but no other teams supporters drink like yours. :p:thumbsu:
