Re: The next 4-5 weeks crucial to our success
This seems to be an outcome of the very attacking, lock it in the forwardline gamestyle we're playing, where if a turnover occurs in the front half of the ground we don't have enough players behind the play to restrict the opposition running it straight down the guts.
It's working well at the moment as the gamestyle is creating far more goals than it's leaking. A test came against Carlton when they broke down the structure and almost scored at will, however we were able to regain control and kick two or three goals for every one of the scum's from then on.
This bodes well for the future in my opinion, hopefully the boys learned a lot from that quarter and will know how to regain the ascendency quicker in the future, as it's inevitable that the good sides will go through periods where things click for them. The trick will be limiting the bleeding to two or three goal runs rather than five or six. Freo's pacy skillful runners are probably as good a chance as any to cut through our structure - it will be great to see how we hold up on Friday night.
Was going to make a thread about this myself.
A bit concerned about the next month. Mainly Freo and Geelong. We're letting through WAY too many goals at the minute, and our next month is a BAD time to be leaking so badly.
The back six needs to tighten up quick smart, or we'll be on the receiving end of some decent hidings.
