I was hoping Cross would get it but I suppose it was not to be.

Gia was probably the best choice though. Can play just about anywhere around the ground, good with the media etc.

retire it for as long as necessary until the right person comes along.

i also think johnno will keep the captaincy through to the end of next year (assuming he plays on) and by then id give it to higgins. oozes class and is from what ive heard from mates of his in geelong, a real professional off the feild, even as a 17/18 year old.

Very comfortable with Gia, but would have been with Boyd, Murph or Cross. Higgo is prob the captain after the next captain.

Never forget...Gia is "half man....half Cappuccino".

Rocket has categorically stated not to read too much into Gia's appointment one way or the other BUT for the period that Johno is recovering Gia will be stand-in Captain.

This looks like being at least the NAB Cup final and Rd 1 v Pies.

Probably good decision to stick with one person otherwise it will become an audition for the captaincy which the media would jump on and make a distraction.

Nah, Eade has said that it is Gia until BJ comes back in rd 2 or 3. But he said that does not mean that Gia will be the next skipper.
