I don't see how it's unsavoury by asking people's opinions on who MIGHT be a good option IF we get a new coach?
If we can get Judd to play on for another year, we could have God playing and Jesus coaching. No messiah complex here...They call him Jesus for a reason.
Because he's not a dead set certainty to go. The odds might be heavily against him, but there's still a chance they might keep him on. Do we really need to preface every comment with "If he goes..."?Interesting that you chose to emphasise might and if. Not seeing too much of either in many of the posts...
What's the harm in waiting a week or so? This thread is not much better than the media witch-hunt that looks like it will finally get its man.
excuse my intrusion...
i grew up with watching epic and i mean epic games with you guys...
i want the Carlton that we hate, yet respect...
i remember 40 odd thousand at Victoria Park in 1970...
full houses at Princes Park where the games were electric and as a kid in that era felt completely safe...
it needs to start at the very top and build up that culture of yours again...
all the best...

What's the harm in waiting a week? No harm, but in all seriousness, what's the actual harm in having an open discussion about it now?
Do you participate in discussions about the following week's team? Do you talk about list management and who should be delisted or traded? Have you offered an opinion on who should be the next captain? Have you said that we should stop playing player x because they aren't part of the future?
If you haven't, then good on you for sticking to your guns, but if you have, you're standing on a wobbly soap box.
So Judd to Coach? Make him player/coach like Barassi now and lets see what he can do... Closest thing we have to a Messiah. If we can get Judd to play on for another year, we could have God playing and Jesus coaching. No messiah complex here...
It worked out so well for channel 7 superstar Tim Watson at St Kilda.I am not an advocate for or against him, but given his lack of coaching credentials, would supporters be weary of Ling getting the top job?

This thread asks the question 'who do you want as the next coach?' It's not saying 'sack Mick' and it doesn't say that it should be tomorrow, in 2 weeks, or at the end of the year when his contract expires (in fact the OP says new coach from 2016). At the very least, his contract is up at the end of the year and I would hope that the club is in the process of looking at options, regardless of the outcome in a couple of weeks. That's not a witch hunt.We are a basket-case club engaging in basket-case behaviour...
The club's that repeatedly eat their own do not succeed. I don't think it is at all unreasonable to want discussion of our next coach to wait until it is confirmed that the incumbent is no longer our coach.
And for the record, I have certainly engaged in discussion about which players should come in/out of the side, as I have about trading etc... Bit different to replacing a bloke before he's even been sacked. Finally, I was also on the record that Ratten had lost my support as our coach. Can't remember ever jumping on him like MM has endured. I just think any coach of our club deserves better.

I fail to see the difference between this and speculating on the trade value and future of an existing player.
Let's just use Walker as an example. Long time servant of the club, still contracted and when healthy, still in the best side and offers a bit (playing regular games). Saying that we should consider trading him at the end of the year for a 2nd round pick, is not only replacing him before he is sacked, it's putting a value on him AND replacing him with a nameless number.
