I wished this to be true, I said this to a former magpie at yesterday's game. We need past players to start putting the heat on the coach and the club otherwise nothing is going to change. We are stuck in a rut at the moment.

And how did the former magpie respond to your overtures?

Has our next coach even been born yet? Isn't Ken signed up for the next 50 years?

or being lured to snow town

either would work

The pros and cons re Choco's coaching tenure at Alberton will no doubt go on forever, with the obvious huge plus being he delivered our first AFL flag in 2004.
During the early 2000's when we had arguably the equal best list in the comp at the time and were probably the only team able to match brisvegas we kept falling over to teams that couldn't get anywhere near the team from Qld.
I can recall having discussions with a businessman whose family had put a lot of money into the club over the years and he always complained about the game plan, ie plan A was `kick it to Tredrea', and if that didn't work plan B was bring Tredrea down the wing and 1kick it to Tredrea'.

That sounds eerily familiar. Plan A: Kick it to Dixon eg bomb it into 50. Plan B: outlet kick. Kick it to Dixon towards the boundary.

The chip chip slow ball movement down the wing vs the dominant cats side that followed us was to go down the middle

I chose the Cats as an example rather than the Lions (brown, lynch and bradshaw), is like Port they didn't have many quality tall targets. Port had Tredrea, Thurstons and a resting ruck. The Cats had Mooney, Stevie and a resting ruck.

Fast ball movement meant the cats forwards had a chance where choco relied upon Tredrea's brilliance which resulted in one flag rather than two or three.

Somebody told me that a couple of Port sanfl premiership players have publicly called for Ken to be sacked but I haven't heard or read anything.
I heard Tredrea after the game compelled to read our a text from a former Port player he refused to name that said “we don’t have any plan B.“

I mean the reason he felt the need to read it out says something.

We've built a team and game plan to beat Richmond, but others are exposing us, maybe not in finals like 2001-03 years, but showing us there is more than one way to win.

I want a coach who has coached his own team for a minimum of 2 maybe 3 seasons at state league level if he isnt an ex AFL coach and someone who hasnt been an AFL assistant coach for the last 10 years and has learnt how to be a good buddy to the players to counter act the tough demands of the head coach. A few years as an AFL assistant is fine but not a career assistant.

Bassett fits that profile but the way his state league team played is reflected in how the lines he has coached at AFL level plays - ratshit. I dont want him as our forwards coach let alone head coach.

Schofield fits the bill and his Subiaco teams played a good attacking brand of footy. He had 6 years as coach and 5 grand finals. Has his time at Port helped or hurt him? How much has he had to hold back on what he really wants to do because of Ken?

Dont be surprised if Josh Carr applies when a vacancy pops up.

Schofield is my man at this stage i could not understand what he would be going through sitting under hinkey!

Who cares about statements. I just wonder if it is true and who it was.
Well when we probably have 150 premiership players I’d say it very likely a few hate our coach .

id say a few hate Fos and Jack...

id even say a few are flat earthers ..

Yep and outside of Tredrea's insinuations there hasn't been past players declaring it publicly that I've heard. If a couple of players expressed their opposing view publicly I would like to know who. What's your problem with that?

It's rumoured that the sticking point is that the thing on his nose is asking for a separate, six-figure contract.
No one is sure if this sits under the soft cap or not.

I've heard they are keen on Pyke, but not the thing on his nose. Unfortunately the thing on his nose informed them that they are a package deal.
