I think Darcy is good, but between the injuries and my preference to have more mobility, I think shipping him now makes sense.

Agree on Cox.
Oh yeah totally understand where ya coming from .

We go to water under pressure and conversely can’t apply the same in return to save ourselves and yes 90.% of that is game plan but we are definitely light on quick smalls both front and back.

It’s just obviously if we torpedo Darcy we still need to get in another experienced Tap ruck .
Cameron be good for few years but he’s already 30 so I’m not sure who else to look at

I'd just play Jackson. If Riddle (or possibly Nichols long term given the athletic profile) came on he might be a good 2nd option, but I don't want someone slow unless their Gawn levels. Gawn every bit as good as Darcy in the ruck, but one of the best contested marks going as well. That's worth compromising the speed and ground level stuff for.

I think we stick with Darcy (of course another year like last on the injury front and I’ll be changing my mind) but I’ve said for quite awhile now cox needs to be shipped off .

Make no mistake Adelaide will pay a small fortune for him.
We may even able to do a deal for curtin(yes I know he’s also essentially a tall but at least he’s a genuine utility/very accurate kick.)

If not him I’d be dead keen on trying to prise Darcy jones out of GWS*

* that’s on top of getting Pickett.

Hopefully Chad signs on with Sydney and we can fit him in in 2 years time too

But yeah our team balance really is not suited to the modern game of high run, high pressure
If Adelaide keep going the way they're going they'll have absolutely zero interest in him. Would've been prepared to pay for him in 2023 before he signed that **** ass contract.

Cox defended well tonight but misread the drop of the ball in that last contest & got caught off balance. Disappointing but the reaction is so far over the top on that one.
I’m not a massive fan of his & watch him closely. Today he was pretty solid.

Mate…really.

That last effort was pathetic. Beyond pathetic.

Amartey was on one leg from a cork.

Cox was as weak as piss

I’m not going sit here & argue with anyone on this because this place is toxic at the moment, but he got caught off balance & lost control of the drop zone.

It’s one of the scariest positions to be in as a defender & he should never have been put in that position in the first place.

Cox was great today

That moment cost us and he was caught off ballance

Serong had a shocker of a kick

And the list goes on

I hardly blame Cox for the loss because so many players made mistakes he just made our last mistake

If, according to his new contract, JL is now just an employee of the club, why don't they say to him that we will give JG a go for 4-6 weeks and Justin takes over Assistant role. If it doesn't work, they swap roles again!! I'm joking but this cou
Why did they not get JL some support over the pre season ?
Did we change any of the assistants ?
The game plan hasn't.

There is something wrong at the club.
And it wasn't Bell.
The club has weak leadership & it permeates to our on field performance & has for a good couple of years now.
No hard edge, it's all a bit soft & warm & fuzzy.

How much would John Longmire be worth to get over here?

So ****ing frustrating.

lol what. he gave Sydney three goals simply because he gave up on his contest way too early on.

Add to that his shit costing us the game vs GWS last year and finals, as well as his absolute dog shit game in round 1.

He’s literally been my buddy for like 3 or 4 years but even I can see that he’s miles off his best.

Brett Montgomery from GWS.
He turned down West Coast last year. Could we tempt him here with a ready to go list ?

Steven King from Geelong.
He was in the final 3 for the Eagles.
Not that it matters as there were a handful approached that said no.

If we need fresh coaching stock it must be from a successful well run club..
I don't think anybody that has assisted Voss or Chris Scott would really fit that category.

Are there any Sydney assistants that would fit the bill.

Though yOu could throw a dart blindfolded and you would pick up an improvement on JL.

Chris Scott? Pretty sure he’s the best coach in the league tbh.

Brett Montgomery is the obvious choice. He's ready to go.

"Over 16 years as an assistant coach, Montgomery has been involved in several successful rebuilds and most recently played a key role in taking the Giants from 16th in 2022 to a preliminary final in the club's first year under Port Adelaide premiership teammate Adam Kingsley. The 51-year-old has been strongly endorsed by Kingsley and is ready to explore senior opportunities. His duties with the Giants include the backline, team defence, and most recently the club's leadership program, which is designed to foster team connection, culture, and personal growth. Has held previous roles with Carlton, the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide."

We need another Lyon type to come in and challenge the weak.

Not an untried coach with a good assistant resume. Been down that road before eg; Drum, Harvey and Jlo and lesser extent Connoly.

All 4, especially the first three were all touted as next coaches in waiting etc. Jlo completed that extra curricular coaching course with
Malthouse calling him
(grade A student)

Has to be someone who’s done it before and minimum made a GF.

Players who need new guidance..

Cox & Ryan need a kick up the arse
Freddy needs a position change
Brodie needs to be backed in
Erasmus & Johnson next step
Voss needs to execute skills
Jackson isn’t fulfilling potential
Pearce solid back, ain’t captain imo.

We should try to get Mundy. He ticks all the boxes the board was looking for when we hired JLo.

1. Has played for Freo
2. Has kicked a goal after the siren

Yes I know you’re saying “but Mundy speaks clearly” and you’re right, but I think that can be trained out of him
MUndy. Yes please.
Has a football brain and some.

Listening to commentary from Adam Simpson it was pretty clear he knew everything we were going to do. How we defend, kick out it etc.

Simpson scouted us the most in recent years. We have a ready made coach who coached and played in premiership. Knows us like the back of his hand, understands Perth media and family already settled in WA.

Make the change now.

Yeah lets keep romanticizing about Freo people being at the club for the sake of it, because success, the very thing these people never actually experienced or had, doesn't actually matter. No to ****ing Barlow, Mayne, Mundy and now Taberner who recently got a WAFL gig but no doubt people here will bring his name up soon. How can you guys look at JLo and where that's gotten us and still want these kind of people at the club.

It's no coincidence that the only time we ever looked like a serious club was when we swooped in on someone with a spine and no care or connection to this club and state prior. We should have taken notes from our own playbook and been lining up Chris Scott in the exact same manner. Complete fumble by the club trying to convince themselves "it's okay" because the list, which is ****ing overrated internally and externally, will get there.

It didn't last long, but look at even Eagles. Simpson & Mitchell who came over under comparable paramaters, got the ultimate success eventually. No wonder Dean Cox turned down Eagles, he actually has saved them from themselves, and is probably looking at JLo and thinking **** being in that position.

These players just can't be entering their prime years and continue their development with someone like JLo. 6 seasons under this guy is enough. I don't care if they're happy and comfortable. They don't know any better. The metrics this playing list is hitting, they need to start getting kicked into gear, something fresh is needed to rejuvenate, and it's time to just start playing some ****ing modern football above all else.

Also I know I'm on here for my drive-by "**** the FFC Football Department" post, but if you get rid of JLo, you need to get rid of a lot of the coaching staff that is there. They're all useless. You're not saving anything and nothing is changing if you're just cutting off one branch from a dead tree.

We might be able to salvage the season and play finals if there's a shake-up. I can totally see us playing a better brand of footy just off basics, instincts and being more loose - compared to losing if we continue to stick with the absolute snot gameplan.

Every club in the competition except us across their 8-12 quarters so far, have played and put together some good football.

We're literally unwatchable.

I actually would love Mundy back at the club, but obviously not in a senior coaching role - maybe a development coach?
