Good inititive - and it worked well for portions of the game, however there were times when it felt that 1 umpire was being left out and decided to blow the whistle for the sake of it so they weren't forgotten (for both sides).

RB or EB what were your thoughts on the 3 umpires yesterday, how do you think the experiment worked....
We had three umpires today as well slim. I thought it worked well, there was some frees paid off the play that two umpires normally would have missed. The noticable ones were defenders giving away free kicks to the forwards for holding when the ball was in the middle of the ground.

I thought they picked up a lot of the lesser ahead of the play free kicks as well, both ways and missed a couple of absolute blinders, again both ways.....It actually looked a bit crowded out there at times.....Don't think it will be a regular feature though, clubs can't afford it.

What about the game BK, good result. Milawa obviously missed Simms.

Spot on - but good on the league for trying it.

Don't think Sims would have made a huge difference slim - Tarra dominated out of the middle. Huge blow for the dogs to lose Eames - probably for the season.

Agree. I noticed there were a few collisions with umpires behind play, probably wouldn't have happened with two. Can't see it becoming a regular feature, there just aren't enough umpires out there. Heard it was a trial for finals.

Very happy with the way our boys played slim. Looked good in the dry in the first half and continued that standard in the wet. Not only did Milawa miss Sims, they could have used Gardener in the middle too. Disappointing to see Frankie Eames go down in the second term, early word is he has done his achillies.

Can Bright, Whorouly or even Benalla make it into the 5.,.? Anyone

I would say bright could if they beat greta this wknd not sure on whorouly benalla i think will need to cause a few upsets to be a chance if they can beat glenrowan this week i would think they will be there abouts.

Think Benalla would struggle to beat G/Rowan this week as they play Tarra. I think they play G/rowan the week after

I think Greta are in trouble. They look to be in a form slump at the moment and need to bring back Popes to get back on the winners list. Percentage is a big concern for them. I think Bright may slip in. Maybe next year for Benalla. Whorouly need Glenrowan to drop off to make it.

It is good to see an even competition this year. Be good if someone could knock off Tarra, but it seems the bigger the game the better they play.

Guns made a last minute appearance in the ones on Sat after a couple late withdrawals. Unfortunately he wasn't able to stem the Black tide. :D:D:D

Agree jimbob, I think Greta will drop off from here on in and Bright will take their spot. Still though, Greta have done well so far coming off a wooden spoon.

Heard there was a meeting with tatong an the vcfl today two Benalla an district teams will most likely be in the ovens an king next year.
