Re: Ovens and Murray Part 3

Coming into the home stretch of the season. Any thoughts on........
Who will round out the top 3? Raiders or North?
Who will pinch 5th out of Lavi, Rovers, Wang?
Who are the front runners for the Morris?
Who will win the Strang (leading goal kicker)?
Can anyone beat Albury come finals?

North to take 3rd... they play Albury, Wod, Lavi, Rovers, myrt, Raiders from here in... raiders have got Wod, corowa, yarra, wang, albury, north. A few key injuries have hurt raiders of late and i really think it was some close wins early (Lavi Rd 1 - 7 points & Rovers Rd 2 - 1point) which have kept them ahead of that chasing pack.

5th is a different battle. All 3 sides mentioned play each other before the end of the season, so whoever can come out of those 2 games with 2 wins probably deserves 5th. We'll know a lot more in 2 weeks after lavi have played wang and the wang derby. I think 9 wins will take 5th.

From here on.
Lavi - Wang, Albury, North, Wod, Rovers, Myrt.
Wang - Lavi, Rovers, Myrt, Raiders, Roos, Yarra.
Rovers - Yarra, Wang, Albury, North, Lavi, Wodonga

Morris - hyde has to be fair shot

Strang - I don't even know who is leading. I'll go with fowler, cos they won't lose between here and the end.

On current form and conditions i think albury will coast to another flag. However, if they come up against some wet or wild weather in september who knows what can happen. They don't have the same defence the had in 09 but from what ive seen they still have a work rate that beats everyone in the comp.

Re: Ovens and Murray Part 3

Hey guys, can anyone tell me how myrtleford are looking this year? Have they improved as a club and what are there facilites and followings are like? Do they have a future in OM? Ive followed em for a few yrs afar and wandered how they got into so many problems? cheers

Lack of population is the bottom line.

So far Wang have beaten Lavi and Rovers beat Wang. As said earlier I think 9 wins will get 5th spot. However, if the panthers beat the rovers in round 17 it is possible the team finishing 5th could be on 8 wins.

The games in green are teams below them on the current ladder and blue are teams above them.

Lavi - North, Wod, Rovers, Myrt.
Wang - Myrt, Raiders, Roos, Yarra.
Rovers - Albury, North, Lavi, Wodonga

With Rovers currently on 7 wins, Wang 6 and Lavi 5.

Lavi would have to win all of their remaining games to end up on 9 wins

Wang need to get 3 of their games to get to 9 wins, which means they have to knock off either Raiders or Yarra as well accounting for Myrtleford and Corowa.

Rovers clearly only need 2 wins and would have to be in poll position for the final spot in the 5... but they only beat one of their remaining opponents last time they met.

Regardless, I'm not sure either of these 3 teams will make a huge impact on the finals series.

Still think Rovers could have an impact on their day. Lost to Raiders by one point in first round then beat them in the second, lost by a kick to Yarra in both games. Can't see anyone getting near Albury though.

Re: Ovens and Murray Part 3

How are Raiders going to fare come finals time? 4 games to go they have Yarra, Wang, Albury, North. Could be a possibilty that they might face the Rovers in an elimination final having lost 3 out of the last 4.
North will take out the 3rd position on the ladder, and could be interesting to see them face Albury again in the finals. They had a cracker of a game apart from a slow start against the tiges 2 weeks ago. With a few to come back might close the gap a little bit more.

Raiders a good chance to get bundled out in the first week imo. Don't see either them or Yarra doing too much in finals - I'd be backing an Albury v North Albury grand final at this stage, Albury to win by plenty.

The ovens and murray and losts it identity. To see the raiders where they are is a slur on the competiton. Allbury by how far in my mind. Yarra are the hunters and are the only team in my mind from what i have seen to challenge Albury. It only takes one game and lights out for Albury and it won't be the Raiders or Nth

Dr Nogood, what is your issue with Raiders being in the finals???

Re: Ovens and Murray Part 3

Don't worry about him Raider Boy he just needs a bib to wipe the dribble of his face.

I am entitled to an opinion i dont think they are good at all. They may be in the five but that doenst mean your a good side. It shows how much the comp has gone backwards. 90's Raiders side was very good in a very stong O and M. Take Albury away who is thier? We don't have 3 or 4 quality sides like previous years. being a threat.

And as for the dribble....

Re: Ovens and Murray Part 3

I'm with you Dr No, competition significantly weaker than mid 90's - early 2000's. i think what the great grand final sides like 94 Rovers and 2000 Roos would do to todays Tigers side. Tigers may go down in history as being a wonderfully successful side but they are definitely benefiting from a drop in standard.

To say that the Ovens and Murray has lost its identity is a fair call with the number of top line players that have left but to say it is a slur on the competition that the Raiders are third on the ladder is a disgraceful "opinion":thumbsdown::mad:

Last time I checked there were 7 teams behind us !:confused::confused:

If the Raiders are a slur on the competition then what are North Albuy, and The Rovers ? Because I consider them pretty good outfits.:confused::confused:

Will anyone get near Albury ? Probably not but anything can and has gone anyway in the past in Finals and Grand Finals. :):):)

It may be Albury all the way but rubbish us and pick against us at your own peril in the weeks leading up to and the finals. ;););)

Re: Ovens and Murray Part 3

News coming out of the Pigeon's Loft.

Craig Ednie has definitley signed with a WAFL club for season 2011, possibly in a coaching capacity.

Xavier Leslie has already started recruiting with an eye for taking over the helm at the Pigeons. If not he will coach Tocumwal in the Murray League.

Leigh Ramsdale who is currently coaching Rennie - is looking at the Pigeon job; and source say he has a mortgage on it from the clubs committee.

Clint Runnalls may have played his last game for the Pigeons, with a shoulder injury believed to be similar to Raider Matt Dawson.

Interesting to note that John Brunner was not nominated for the Hall of Fame induction. He was eligible but the Pigeons pushed for Robert Tait to be inducted. A big over site with Brunner a 3 time Morris Medallist and Tait a ruckman in a very poor side during the 1970's.

Remember when you told us Leigh Ramsdale was playing at Mulwala with Hargreaves this year, along with Ednie and Stevens going to Perth this year, along with Yarra having nobody cleared at the start of the year because nobody wanted to commit. Why you expect people to beleive the S@#t you write is anyone's guess.

Intersting to note that once again Wonga you are not armed with the facts.
John Brunner is not eligible for Hall of Fame induction as he must be retired 3 years to be inducted and he played with Howlong in 2008 if not 2009.
Robert Tait may be considered as the first netball inductee adding to his service to football and service to the O&M Board!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do the Tigers of 2009-2010 compare with Tigers of 1995-1997?

Rate them up their with the Rovers of the 90's. As for the 09 -10 Albury side, would love to see them play corowa of 2000 and wodonga of 2004.

Re: Ovens and Murray Part 3

Have the Faiders started to live up to their name and are they in a downward spiral? Cook has been looking for form for over 6 weeks now. Is he injured? Langlands has not done much the past few games and why DeKoyer is in the team i do not know. Hibberson kicks like my grandmother and is only a good reserves player. Sims is a winger and should not be up forward. Where is McCuddles? He's a young star on the way up and suited as a good goalkicker. Myer needs to stay at CHB and not be wasted in the ruck unless he takes more marks around the ground. Should they lose to Wang this week I doubt it if they win another game for the year. Thats why they are probably called the Faiders.

Hornie, interesting point you make. But those who have had a bit to do with netball. know that Rober Tait is there when things are good, but disappears very quickly when the chips are down. His football career was not flatterring and as for netball, Vicki Ramsdale is the person responsible for netball at the YFNC, along with the O'Dwyers !!!!:cool:

The reason for my reply was not to pump up Tait's tyres but merely to inform how far from the truth you were with the Brunner information. Not sure how a club could push for induction other than forwarding a nomination and after talking to those who would know at the Pigeons it would appear that they have not even nominated him for consideration.

Of those eligible who would you consider could be the next to go in if eligible????

BB, with all of those opinions you're sharing, it would seem you're a follower of the raiders. Or at the very least you watch them play regularly. So what's your story?
