... and I just found my new desktop background. John Lennon with his 1965 Epiphone Casino. Not amped up, so I assume they were performing on TV.

… and my baby.

1984 Epiphone Casino made by Matsumoku.

I was playing the George Harrison song “I Want To Tell You” off Revolver today through a Fender amp and the guitar just captures the 60’s sound perfectly, especially the opening riff. Same deal with The Monkees “ Pleasant Valley Sunday.”

Needs a new case.

Jim Wynd would go on a 6km run BEFORE a game to sharpen up. Listening to Wynd talk about running and his training really puts to the lie the idea that players in the 80’s and 90’s were slow or couldn’t run.

Paul Roos - “Bernie Quinlan and Gary Wilson, I mean in my opinion you’re talking about top 20 players in the history of the game.”

We had backstabbing supporters in 1979? Where did they do their backstabbing without the internet? Live at the game? Negative graffiti in bus shelters? Anonymous messages to the club composed of cut up newspaper letters? ‘Face to face’ backstabbing? Is that even backstabbing or is that feedback?

What a game! Fitzroy in front all day, Pert goals for Collingwood and it looks to be over. With seconds to go Guard sends it forward, Roos flies but can’t hang onto the mark, Abbott busts the pack and suddenly ROOS! On the deck, left foot snap, GOAL!

Just to make sure we hung on, he went into the centre at the restart to contest the ruck hit out. An amazing Captain. Right up there with Murray, Wilson, Voss and Brown.

My old man is adamant Roos was robbed of the 86 Brownlow too.

One of my favourite games to have ever been at.

M Malice I found this when digging in the back garden... It's a plastic badge (pin long rusted away) and probably from the 1970s.

My Grandmother lived in Guthrie Street Paddington up the top of the hill - when we went up on holidays, my brother and I slept in a bungalow that literally overlooked Lang Park and took on the smell of fermenting hops from the nearby Castlemaine Fourex brewery. Saturday’s were spent either at Lang Park watching the QRL or at the races at Doomben - I vividly recall seeing King Wally in the 6 for Valleys against East. He was in a different class to everyone else.
