P. Burgers should've got the medal

C'mon, if you're going to say that Motlop had a good game and that Shaun was 'very good', you can't say anyone other than Rutten had a bad one for the Crows. I thought that Johncock was good, at the very least as good as Shaun; Burton presented well all night and did a hell of a lot more than Motlop; and while Bock was quiet, he wasn't terrible.

And in Rutten's defence, two of Fev's goals were from quick rebounds off the DT's turnovers, and one other was from that freak mark he took. When you have such good delivery coming in so quickly, it's incredibly hard to do anything from a defensive aspect.

Dont agree that PB was the BOG tonight.....its always tough in games like this. Didnt think Feb deserved it either, but on reflection, 6 and winning the game is good enough for me.....particularly since we know what the game was really about when it was on the line and that free kick that Browny received.....Choco sort of summed it up well during the "cross from the commentary box" i thought.

And Mr Head, i thought that Stiffy and Bungee were both VVG, BirdPoo was ok, Goody a bit better, but Bock and Rutten were trounced. Dont get me wrong, Motlop wasnt sighted really, despite his two, and Junior wasnt great (like Birdpoo), but the other port boys were better than average.

Does anyone think the modern day god (eye roll) Jonathon Brown will see trouble for the arm swing on Bolton?

Look at the stats mate, goodes had a good game, top 5 in the game easy.

8 inside 50' 8 hard ball gets 6 rebounds out of 50 and 21 disposals and 4 hitouts.

No that must of been a really crap game by goodes.
goodes was a star all night one of the shining lights, kept going ALL night as opposed to the rest of the blokes on the field, when vic needed a spark him and fev provided it, with bartel and boomer in the last quarter

Moron. 8 contested possessions.
moron, good comeback that one, did your mum think of that one for you.
burgoyne was not BOG, deal with it, its not because he aint victorian, there were other players in the dream team that deserved it more then burgoyne IMO

Fev was understandable, I actually thought Boomer Harvey was the Roos best.

If the Dream Team got up I thought McLeod was their best. I know Burgoyne got a hell of a lot of the footy, but I didn't think he was as damaging or noticable as McLeod.

Having said that, I was a little bias, having a bit of money on McLeod for the medal at $21.

:D Right, because every thread has to degenerate into a pathetic sh!tfight full of petty insults and comebacks. Must be school holidays again.

I didn't suggest he was BOG. I haven't even seen the game, as I don't live in Australia.

I did however listen on the radio and check the stats, and unlike you, quoted a fact rather than a vague unsubstantiated opinion.

Burgoyne's role is to play across half back and distribute. He still has to read the play and get in the right positions to collect the uncontested possies, and does that better than nearly anyone in the comp. He also racked up the contested possies tonight. Whether he hurt the opposition enough in that role to be BOG is debatable, and clearly the judges didn't think so... fair play to them.

Got a lot of it early but the only hurt from it was that the Vics didnt have it rather than PB's work to advantage.

In the meantime there were a few blokes that got half the number of touches but caused serious problems, forced matchup changes and provided lots of drive.

Burgoyne benefitted early from being way down the priority list of guys that needed to be seriously manned up on that ground.

Had a good game without being much of a problem. Not in the top 3 or 4 for mine.

Kane was good, Junior was very good in the 2nd half, Mots kicked 2 goals and chased hard.

Peter was a ball magnet....

Yep, thats 4 good players for me.

Stiffy - how many times did he handball to someone in a useless position?
Bock - Slaughtered
Rutten - was he out their, or was that his mum playing?
McLeod - very good
Goodwin - ok
Burton - 50/50 as usual.

Back to the topic, Peter was stiff to miss out.

Your players assesment failed when you claim Motlop played well because he chased hard?

Johncock actually beat his opponents and got the hard ball. And did you see the time Burgoyne handballed to Johncock who wasnt even looking at him.

As for back on topic, why did you bring up Rutten in a thread about Burgoyne?

I hate Fev i really do, with a firey firey passion but DAMN that boy had a GREAT game and i have to admit he made an impact and a HUGE one at that. So yeah i agree that he was a good pick for the medal.

I would have given 5 votes to Brent Harvey
4 votes to Scarlett
3 votes to Fevola
2 votes to Peter Burgoyne
1 vote to Bartel

Well if you're worried about being "____ed" why not give something resembling a balanced view instead of:

If you said that, on balance, Scarlett is a better defender than Bock and Rutten because of all the things he brings to the table you wouldn't get any arguments from anyone, even Crows fans.

How about...

Bock and Rutten are very good, in a well drilled and well disciplined defensive unit.... that also allows for midfielders to work together with them.

Scarlett on the other hand would be the preferred option, if it was 1 on 1, no one else near it, fast break football.

Adelaide defenders would know nothing about that scenario in recent years, they play lockdown football and would hardly get scored on like that on the rebound. Geelong on the other hand probably have that a bit more often.

Hell this Power / Crows stuff is getting boring.

Tonight was about the so called Dream Team.

I thought we lacked intensity at times and that is what hurt us.

Well done to the Vics

I thought Fevola was a fair pick as in the end he was the difference.

Burgers did have alot of the ball but failed to be overly damaging with it.

I agree. I don't how the Crows got brought into this thread. Power have been the Crows' bitches for the last few years which means the Crows are superior to them. A meaningless match where one or two players supposedly played better than the others isn't going to change that.

Agree too. The quality of Adelaide's defence equals more than the sum of its parts. This can falsely inflate Rutten's 1-on-1 reputation.

My picks would be =

5 - Fevola. Worthy winner
4 - Scarlett. Best defender out there
3 - Harvey. Typical Boomer game
2 - Burgoyne. Plenty of stats & played well
1 - McLeod. Not vintage Macca but just pipped Johncock & Cornes for the one vote.

Cox struggled all night & definitely did not look fit which robbed the DT of it's likely ruck domination.

M Voss did say that this was the first time he could remember that B Rutten has lost so many one on one contest so maybe his fitness was a bit suss as well.
