He bumped Dangerfield who was about 10 cm shorter than him, and manages to get him in the head.

Paddy ryder gets a week

Just saw the vision of his bump on Tippet and have to say that it is one of the softest suspensions handed out this year. The MRP are a joke, it was a perfectly legal bump, no harm intended. I reckon the only reason he got a week was because tippet got hurt.

The MRP panel are trying to eliminate bumps from our great game.
Thoughts?

I don't think injury should be taken into consideration when a penalty is handed out, but it seems to. You can get injured from the smallest of collisions, depending on how you get hit.

Same as last week, when Kerr got one week and Thornton got nothing, because of the reactions of the players they hit (don't want to go back into this argument, but it's a convenient example).

When Maxwell broke McGinnity's jaw in the pre-season I said the same thing- if the bump is executed correctly but an accidental injury occurs, there shouldn't be a suspension. If a bump is executed incorrectly and hits someone in the head for example but doesn't injure them, they should still look at it.

Anyone have any footage of it? I can't remember seeing it. From what I've heard there was nothing in it.

Dead set joke, Gardiner gets a week for fore-arming someone in the back of the head behind the play while Ryder gets the same punishment for a "sheppard".

I don't care if I am labelled biased or a sook or whatever else, but that has to be the worst ever decision by the MRP in recent memory.

Surely the club is going to contest that.

Surely the club is going to contest that.

Give us your examples then of suspensions to players that have been a ludicrous as the one given out to Ryder then.

I'm not saying the MRP have never made bad/harsh decisions in regards to suspensions to players in the past, but that one takes it to a whole new dimension of insipidness.

Initial contact was to the point of the shoulder, the impact looked worse due to the fact that dangerfield didnt see it coming.

Its a joke if he gets weeks for that.

really all you can say. if thats reportable and thats the mandate moving forward, MRP have made a lot of work for themselves. that happens at least 2-3 times a game

There was slight contact to the head but Dangerfield slipping creates that contact. He clearly looses his footing as Ryder hit him, therefore collects him slightly high though the first contact was to the shoulder. No way on earth that deserves a week though.
