Gotta love when a setup goes to plan.

Jordan Lewis brought this up on On the Couch where Melbourne did not pick up on.
3 centre bounce setups in a row where we cleared the ball and went i50.

What a contrast!!!

Sat in the same spot last week as this week (amazingly sat with some of the same supporters as well) and while the outcome was different that winning feeling and the atmosphere of the side winning was utterly amazing - the biggest contrast was the midfield's two way running and workrate.

Against the Doggies, the team would drift to the ball carrier and many would leave their man or not know where their man was and just jog. Contrast that with yesterdays defensive movement, players stuck or didn't drift too far from their oppo and more urgency to know where their oppo was but also close space.

Against the Doggies, many players just get sucked into the contest leaving their man free to rebound. Contrast that to yesterday and they showed confidence in their teammate to tackle or pressure the player rather than all converging to the one player - there wasn't the laziness like the game before.

Stats says it all:

Like what Kings said about our fans being an angry bunch (although I’d say it’s more passion than anger) - does anyone else think our crowds have been louder over the past three years than ever before? It’s like we’ve been suppressing all the emotion from every loss and turning it into such an electric, noisy energy every game. I know I’ve been desperate for them to give me something to scream about and I don’t reckon I’m the only one

I don’t actually care right now, but if anyone has theories on Sheezel’s drop in form, I’ll be keen to read about them tomorrow morning

He is not down on form. Rather, for the first time since he started there are others stepping up and carrying far more of the load. In 2023 and probably much of last year, he was playing on the half back line, seemingly having to do it all, whereas the recruiting of Caleb Daniel has released him to do other stuff.

Of the three premiership players we recruited from other teams, Parker was the one I viewed as the smartest move of the three. I was rather surprised that the bulldogs were prepared to trade Daniels and wondered if they knew something we didn't.

But if these three boys can continue as they have started, and two games is a very small sample, then I think it is more than fair to say we won last years trade period.

And perhaps as wonderful as anything about these three is the way they have seemed to embrace the club. They appear to have a genuine love for the NMFC, which is just great to see.

Also I should not forget Konstanty. A terrific start to his AFL career.

He finished well but for most of the game he was fumbly (by his standards), and had an uncharacteristically large number of ineffective disposals.

Something seemed to be up beyond the rest of the team carrying the load.

2 glorious hours catching up on this thread, ya bunch of f….n maniacs.

24 hours later, still buzzing
I know right, after the match on Sunday, did a few things and when I got back on the thread I was twenty pages behind and counting, very excited but Jesus, didn't think I was going to catch up because like a lot of us wanted to watch the replay a little later on, that surprised me, 24 hours and still "BUZZING", I think that nearly all of us is in the same boat, even people at my work were talking about that game and what we did, they said pretty much the same thing, it was insane! 😃

The last goal of the game, the one by Bailey Scott was one of my favourites.

It was so unexpected and from outside 50! We have just never taken that confidence shot in years, loved it.

I loved that goal too - and even more so, Clarkson's reaction. Every North fan going berserk.

The coach:

Absolute vibe about expectations and standards.
