Spot On slattery.

So when I talk about stability I am talking about putting together a younger group and letting them play as a group for 10-12 games. We went down a "youth" path but of all the teams doing the "youth" path.. we are the only ones that haven't blooded a young core stable group.

I would like to see a midfield comprised of jetta, zaka, reimers(when fit),houli, stanton, watson, melksham, ryder, myers get a run for a few weeks.. see if we can't start to see some of these guys gel together.

For my mind, Knights has been sucked into the sheedy style of trying to rebuild with youth but playing older guys. And unfortunately it is the older guys that are dragging us down in pace and speed. Again I come back to the issue of how Lloyd can be moved on and yet then we appoint a flog like Welsh VC? Just some really crazy stuff down there at bomberland.. just cause your popular doesn't mean we should give em the VC tag.

I've got no probs with Welsh being VC. There's seemingly 20 or 30 of them, and I bet he offers more than some of the more introverted characters - Stanton for eg. Definitely gets the most out of what talent he's got. I've a problem with him being picked.

5 days later and I feel a little calmer about knights...

I still believe though he has to deliver somehow this week to keep us supporters more at ease with him. Putting Prismal back into the side is a good start...

Now he has to prove it on the field.. If we are winning and Hawthorn start to build come back momentum, I expect to see the our forward line building a wall down back..

BUMP

Thoughts after the game v the hawks?

I noticed there was much less handball and more long kicking with leading up the ground. Much more effective and easier to defend turnovers. As much as I hate to say it, I think that Pears is a major contributor to the 'Handball effect'.

Hopefully the boys continue to kick next weekend.

Yes Matty, glad you read my letters. It was a good idea putting Hille forward more wasn't it? Let's see it happen every week..

Well just as one loss shouldn't send us into a tail spin.. neither does 1 win.. especially not against that rabble.

However (as stated in other threads) did like some moves, liked the aggression and liked picking davey and prismall.

Not enough to join his supporters but was proof not all is lost.

Needs to be able to match this and continue for more than 1 round. Also needs to show that gameplan can work consistently, and against better opposition.

Also needs to show that he can motivate the boys even we its not "make or break" time...

Ok.. you can laugh.. you don't think every AFL club goes through the fixture and pencils in the games they think they will win and lose?

Get real, there are some games that are winnable and some that aren't. Its not that hard to suggest you actually put your money where your mouth is and declare who you think we will beat..

Hopefully I'll get a few nice surprise wins to cheer me up in the next couple of months..
I don't think all is good and has been fixed from the weekend, but certainly I think the game on Saturday proves the point I was making. Form can change so much week to week, we still have a long way to go, but it is a long season. Supporters should not get so disillusioned from a couple of bad weeks.

Umm Hawthorn is, for want of a better word - stupid filter, really really bad!

Still I am glad we didn't lose that rabble of a club and you can only beat the team that runs out. Disillusioned and irrational are two seperate things. If we can beat Port convincingly and run out the game I shall say things are moving. I won't change my mind on Knights thought until we are considered top 4 material or win a final this year. That was his promise...

Ain't going to happen. Beating Hawthorn is nothing to hang your hat on.. and the fact that we have people getting excited about it is sad. They have no ruck man, no Sam Mitchell and absolutely 0 heart. Its games like this that we SHOULD be considered CERTAIN winners.. people should start to go back to fearing the Dons.. expecting wins and expecting big ones. Hawthorn 2 from last 20 or whatever it is.. Richmond and Melbourne. The fact the media still loves them is the only reason they are rated. There are a shambles and have been for a little while. Not that it matters.. they snatched their flag and that is what they wanted and so would I!

Lamentable attitude. How dare you downplay the excitement generated by a win for the Dons supporters, against the arch rival purley on the basis of where you think the Hawks are, and how allegedly depleted they may be.

Really liked the honesty in this part:

“There is a lot of feeling between both clubs and I am expecting it to be pretty fierce because I don’t think there is much love lost between the two clubs. I don’t think there is a lot of respect in both camps."

Will be interesting to see if any of the players remonstrate with the only player more gutless than Campbell Brown, Dean Brogan.

I for one would love to see Hille bowl the big douche over. Michael Pettigrew has one coming his way, too.

Re: Bombers still filth on Port: Knights

Why do coaches and or players and or committee give an opposition ammunition to be used against them in future matches .
Its wrong and immature.
Knights you get a zero for what you just did

Re: Bombers still filth on Port: Knights

My lord Brogan, Cornes and Pettigrew are floggers.
I am ok with Hille getting 7 weeks, just as long as he mashes Brogans face in.

Sheeds did it for 28 years. Won 4 flags.

I see your point.................

Re: Bombers still filth on Port: Knights

Isn't much different to Hirdy's article last week. Seems like our boys need reminding that they need to be hard every week so if this helps them get in the zone like last week than it's fine by me.

But why let a good opportunity to sink the boots into Knights pass you by.

It seems to be the only way Essendon win, if their backs are against the wall... or if their backs are up!

Kudos Knighter, Dons by 50 points! Bookmark it! :thumbsu:

Sheeds had a few runs under his belt before he did it.

No doubt Port will read it, and the players needing firing up will do so.

yeah, get us into "the zone" not the opposition

Not really, he pretty much gobbed off from the get go

(going by articles and old footage I've seen, as seeing as I was only 2 when he started coaching my memory is a tad hazy).

Here's hoping for a fiery contest anyway, we have a few to catch up on in the head to head count.

It's also a message to us to remind us there's a game on at Docklands, to turn up and support our boys :thumbsu:

Hopefully we can make it a noisy cauldron, and on the field if we put the same pressure that we did to Hawthorn (tackling record), the Port players will feel totally under siege.

Re: Bombers still filth on Port: Knights

Very happy to hear, hope its drummed into the players heads the pitiful record against these show pony's cannot be tolerated anymore. Make a ****in stand.

May not be this week but Port Adelaide are going to get whats coming to them from Essendon one day soon and it will be ugly.

I can't stand Port. I'm shattered I can't go this week (my first missed home game in years).

People forget that they knocked us out of two finals series consecutively and have owned us for a long time.

I'm glad Knighta brought up Round 1 2009, that really ****ed me off with the way that C.Cornes brought it up after the game. Really hope we win some hard footy and knock them off.
