I hope we cream Port this weekend, its time we got one back, but unless we are 100% on our game they will flog us.

Knights wont make any difference by what he says, its up to the players.

I loved what Brogan did to @@@@@@ should have finished the job mate.

Go Bombers

TAB has you guys as reasonable favourites. Essendon $1.68 Port $2.10.

Essendon $1.85 / Port $1.95 at TAB now. Bit of money coming in for Port now.

Not surprised. If I wasn't an Essendon fan, I'd have loaded up on you earlier in the week.:eek:

Just on those comments from Matthew Knights in respect to a player that no longer plays at your club, would Port have the right to be "filthy" if Mark Williams was playing this game given his little "choking" gesture a few years back when he wasn't playing for you guys?

I like to think I give credit where it is due, but there was none to be had for the coaching staff today, they flat out lost us the game.

Hille was smashed in the ruck all day, and whenever he was in there we also lost more clearances because he didn't have ANYWHERE near the pressure of Ryder. I only started counting at half time, but Port scored only 1 or two goals while Ryder was rucking.

This flat out lost us the game. Ryder was in the forward line in the last quarter away from the ball when the game was on the line. He only moved into the ruck when we were already behind.

Why?

Why would you do this? Why take your best player out of the play when the game is on the line? EVERONE at the
game could see it, why can't our coaching staff?

Also: Dempsey was shocking in defence for a while and should have been dropped. Today he starts there again, makes mistakes to give away 3 goals, clearly his fault... Why?

I don't care if he can run, if he can't man up and make a decent choice when he has the ball he shouldn't be down there.

I'm not angry, just disappointed. We should have won this by 30 points and were really let down, our players were let down, by the coaching staff.

Flat out. You sound a little angry.

Very winnable match, one that got away.

The coaches are partly to blame, however it is for the most part up to the players. No use just slagging out on the staff, the players are paid to play and they found a way to stuff it up in the end. Was a competitive match though, so am not totally gutted with the result.

Yeah Dempsey was horrible today. Probably WOG. I'm so sick of him letting his opponent get away. Hooker was outstanding and his leadership in trying to remind Dempsey to pick up his man was great.

I thought we played well for the most part but our little lapses really hurt us. I'm hurting so bad right now. 1 point...

Anyone who has it in for Knights this game is KIDDING themselves...

How we lost:

1. Watson getting foolishly run down from behind resulting directly in a Port goal;
2. Monfries missing a set shot 15m out directly in front;
3. Jason Winderlich going for a lazy 20m pass which was cut off inside attacking 50;
4. Courtney Dempsey playing too loose when the crunch was on between the 5 and 20 minue mark of the final quarter.
5. Countless basic kicking errors;
6. Andrew Welsh getting selfishly suspended last week.
7. Port kicking 17.7 (with 3 rushed)

The coaches gameplan set up nearly every goal we did kick.

Look closer everybody

Players not backing themselves lost us that game. Gus should have kicked that goal quickly and not had a stupidly long run up. Winders coughed it up. Watson coughed it up. Hurls should have taken shots and upped his confidence. Others made similar mistakes to these guys.

Players at fault this week, not Knights.

Absolutely disagree. Ryder not rucking the final quarter lost us the game. Unless the players are calling the shots with ruck duties it's clearly the coaching team to blame.

You can't argue with the facts. Re-watch the last quarter when you get the chance and count the goals scored for and against when Ryder was in the ruck, then do the same for Hille.

No reason for Hille to ruck the first two thirds of the final quarter at all.

Thought we played reasonable. Port were just better on the day and took their opportunities.

They are a good side with strong bodies in the midfield, plenty of pace outside and a solid spine.

Wasn't Watson's fault he got run down. Melksham gave him the handball and then ball watched instead of giving off a shepherd or blocking. I doubt he even warned Jobe.

lamaros - Ruckmen simply don't ruck whole games any more. Even quarters. Game is simply too quick.

We only lost by 3 points. Gus kicks that goal or Westhoff misses a few from the boundary and we would all be patting ourselves on the back.
