leave your petty schoolyard team hates out of this

This is about a thug-act by Cripps. 'Flying the flag' by wiping out an opposition player has been consigned to the history books for decades now.

Look at the dominant side of the current era, Richmond, and teams that have taken on their ethos recently like Collingwood. You lift your team by actually enjoying playing the game with each other.

It's not about treating your opponent as so low and hated that you are prepared to give them brain damage in order to win.
Your team based their entire game around "playing on the edge", so it's very rich (haha) for you to comment.

What Cripps did was not intentional - his eyes were on the ball the entire time. That's not thuggish behaviour. He doesn't have a history of physically belting people either. If you think he deliberately done it to give him brain damage, then it might be fair to say you've got some damage already.

Kellam said after he and jurors Richard Loveridge and Stephen Jurica viewed the footage, they believed Cripps did not bump and was merely contesting the ball.

"The video did not reveal a bump, it set out as a contest for the ball that resulted in a collision," Kellam said.

And no reasonable tribunal could have thought it was a bump. Riiiiiight.

You were all told this would be overturned days ago. You can’t be rubbing out players for going at the ball.

The melts are incredible 😂
Brisbane supporters going mental about AFL and Vic conspiracies, maybe need to realise it's in our best interests to have Carlton better chance to win this week and next?!

To be fair the main earnt his fee.

Legal wizardry at its finest.

Legal wizardry ? Or complete incompetence by the Tribunal for not even discussing whether it was a bump ?

What an absolute head in the sand shit show by the AFL.

The Carlton supporter who said the AFL advocate at the Tribunal was completely useless was correct.

The multi million dollar lawsuits from former players cant come quickly enough.

Take the colours out of it. This is a win for players who play the ball fairly.

So there wont be complaints from you if someone runs straight through Walsh and knocks him out and he misses a bunch of weeks as long as the player at some point was looking at the ball ?

For quite a while, the onus has been on the player to avoid concussing someone. There are numerous examples of players being suspended for in-game actions that are considered careless.

The AFL is a disgrace. They are unable to write rules that are clear, because they want the ambiguity to allow themselves to “respond quickly” (to media pressure). And now it comes back to bite them.

In my opinion, these actions should be fine. But the AFL wants to stamp out concussions, so why not specifically state that an action causing concussion is two weeks?

I haven't read all the transcripts, but someone said above that the AFL QC acknowledged that both of Cripps hands were reaching for the ball at impact. If that's the case, and presuming the QC is acting in good faith which o think he is, then it seems to me its been agreed by the tribunal that it wasn't a 'bump' but rather an impact as a result of a contest.

ODN posted a still of Cripps with both hands reaching for the ball, so maybe this decision isn't so incompetent or corrupt as most are making out.

I think you have brain damage. Cripps has never been reported in his life and now he is a thug.
Neil balme - now there is the definition of thug.

If it's incidental contact in a legitimate contest, then no issues at all - it happens.

Only a few weeks ago there was an accidental head clash in the Carlton/Saints game - should Dan Butler or Hunter Clark have been suspended for being careless?
