Mitchell was from Victoria anyway, so that’s not really an actual example. Contrary to your point, here’s the list of players I can think of who returned to Perth:
* Tim Kelly
* Nathan Wilson
* Zac Langdon
* Jamie Cripps
* Brandon Matera
* Rory Lobb
* Jesse Hogan
* Elliot Yeo
* Lewis Jetta
* Reece Conca
* Blake Acres
* Travis Colyer

That’s all from the the past 5 seasons alone, and twice as many examples as you listed. So that “established fact” is rare, with only O’Meara really wanting to go to Hawthorn for reasons other than money.

In regards to his girlfriend, I’m only speaking from my own experience, as I mentioned before, I know someone with the condition.

Maybe you should visit Perth at some point, because, as it stands, you’re completely judging a place you’ve never been to yourself. And he would get the same experience here, because he’s an AFL footballer. He’d have the exact same experience over here, just with, probably, more people swarming him, as we’re a two team town.

And, tbh, do you think Cripps would only consider those factors in where he decides to live?

So now find me a bunch of players originally from Victoria who requested a trade to WA? Players either return home, or they request a trade to Melbourne, but the reverse doesn't hold true, and that was exactly the point. There isn't the same pull to WA as there is to heading to (or staying in) Melbourne.

Players from WA occasionally request a trade back home, but in that incredibly small sample size you've provided only one of those players was an established star when they requested a trade. The majority of the guys you've listed are fringe players who left for more gametime.

And yes, I have said the only reason he will leave is for success - there's not enough substance behind any other reason IMO.

And unless you're related to the man himself, I'd suggest you really don't know for sure what he's thinking.

The well documented challenges his partner has might mean they see Perth as a good long-term destination to start a family for example.

I'd think he's more likely to stay than leave, but there's plenty of reasons he'd consider a move West.

Nothing's stopping him starting a family in Melbourne and then moving back at a later date.

Again, not much substance at all to those reasons, and there's also no guarantee he even stays with his partner in the long term.

I mean, there's about as much substance as there is to your definitive statement as to him only moving for on-field success.

I doubt Langdon, Conca, Matera, Acres and Colyer had clubs lining for them, so it's not a surprise they opted to return home with little else on offer. I'd also remove Hogan since he left Freo, so home clearly wasn't the determining factor for him.

You're essentially left with 6 players from the past 7 years. Not a big trend

Tim Kelly aside, who was the last established star to request a trade back to WA?

Look, this is all besides the point. Just actually consider your words before you blankly say that Perth isn’t a good place for young people. As if night clubs and utilities in the CBD is all that’s taken into consideration.

Doesn't matter what age you are really.

Horrible place for anyone who knows better.

A headline you wont see in 2021:

"Eagles table huge offer to lure Patrick Cripps back to the west!"

For some bizzare reason, we never chase players publicly. Ever

Tim Kelly?

Cripps is the captain of Carlton and has been there through the worst times but would have been paid extremely well during this period
He looks like an honorable young man tat will stay loyal and lead that football club through the better times infront of them now.

He would want nothing more than emulate Richmond captain and win a premiership with the club he helped build

It is every human being's dream to one day be like Trent Cotchin.
