Wrote this on our board:

Great for Lipinski. That’s why he left. To play a role in a side he wouldn’t get at the Dogs. Him playing well doesn’t reflect on us, it just says our attempts to make him a flanker were a bit of square peg in a round hole.

The move was the right thing for his career. He’s a midfielder and with where the Dogs’ list is at in his position he’d still be depth, but 23 year old talented kids don’t always just wait around for 28-29 year olds to retire so they can finally play consistent top grade footy.
Really happy to have him in the black and white, one game doesn’t make a career but he looks the goods and has a bright future.

We had a similar situation with Witts, had to let him go for peanuts

Lipinski reminds me a lot of Scotty Russell, who played ~180 games for the Pies incl a Premiership in his debut season in 1990. Both smooth moving, clean and skilful who get it done with a minimum of fuss.

4 times he came 3rd in our B&F. Was also an All-Australian in a flag year (his debut year!). Sorely underrated player was Scott Russell.

This is the way modern coaching and scouting should go. Not focussing on what players can’t do, but what they can do and how that can fit in to the game style you are using. Lipinski will be a ripper for us, he might never be an elite, but he could easily be a 200 gamer and his work rate and ball use are exceptional.

Was excellent for us on club debut. Imo was our BOG was very noticeable when he went off Saints would gain momentum.
Yeah, spent a fair amount of time on the bench in the 3rd quarter. Whether they were managing his loads because of that rolled ankle, who knows. Even Fly said when he rolled his ankle in the GWS game, it affected us.

Had 81% game time.

Only one solution.

100% game time Lippa lol

Funny I said at the game if you remove all the picks etc it is effectively a swap.
Treloar going there made it tougher for PL to get a game.
PL suits us more than Treloar IMO.
I think Treloar would have suited us right now far more with the quicker gamestyle than he did under Buckley. One thing we could absolutely do with is a real line breaker in the midfield. That said, he's injury prone and his disposal isn't up to scratch. As a player, Lipinski is almost the complete inverse of Treloar. Fantastic result given the situation the club put themselves in to lose Treloar.

I think they both suit us equally and would have complemented each here in a fantasy world where Collingwood don’t have salary cap issues.

The twin hammy tears will come back at Treloar sooner or later - it was evident he had lost the top 5% off his pace when he returned from injury and for someone who relies on pace that's a big deal.

Maybe, but I won’t miss the burst forward then mongrel kick straight to opposing players.
Pippa looking at least on par albeit one game in.

Yep, the way CFC acquired Lips last year has a residual smell of wheeling and dealing from the Treloar saga. Treloar is a very good player but it's always pleasing CFC acquired a younger and obviously talented footballer. A similar trade in the past with less baggage attached was the Shaw/Adams trade. CFC got the best years of Shaw and now they're getting the best years of Taylor.

And while Treloar is now 29. Lippa being 23, as long as he has good luck with his body; could play for the next 7 years at least.

Wasn’t obvious that Treloar is benefitting from the quicker game style on Wednesday night. What makes you think it’d be any different if he were still at the Pies?
