No trolling at all. He was terrible, made some awful mistakes. Maybe good for a Collingwood defender but Bower never plays a game that bad.

To me all I seen was that every single time he got the ball he would take 3 steps and kick it, sometimes he seen a teammate and hit them up other times he kicked it to no one. He gave away stupid free kicks from the wannabe tough guy bullshit at the start of the game to the stupid Shepard that turned into a head high tackle.

He might be ok if he could play as a KP backman but if he is going to keep playing on Milne types and continue to cost his side goals with turnovers and stupid frees I will never rate him as a decent player.

Exaclty as I saw it, honestly you could make a highlights reel for Harry and it would show 99% of the time he takes 3 or 4 steps then kicks - exactly the same every time - very predictable from a coach's perspective. If he wants to take the next step, he must rectify this serious flaw in his game.

Bower is fairly average. A one legged Bradshaw coming off a week out basically toyed with Bower in the EF. He's just a good ordinary defender.

Gee i've never seen a post this bad, how on earth can you overrate someone so much.

If Bower was 10x better than he is currently is, he still wouldn't be close to average.

I remember thinking this thread was hilarious when I first saw it, now it's just embarrassing. Country Footballer versus Genuine Gun. Bower was being talked up last year after having bags kicked on him --> "Riewoldt kicked 5 on him but Bower was fantastic". They were his "good games". When are people going to realise he is just a horrible player?

....when are people going to realise that not liking Harry O'Brien the tv personality is no reason to foolishly label him a dud? He's been the best defender (clearly) in the best side in the comp this season.

Next comparison....Alan Didak versus Chris Yarran (actually I've seen that one)

Bower was excellent last season. Missing half the season with multiple quads have really affected his strength and speed. Confidence is rock bottom.

Will be far better next season with a good preseason however O'Brien is clearly far ahead at the moment.

He may have issues with physical preparation this year, but every time I've seen him over the last few years, the real problems appear to be above the neck. Made some horrendous decisions when he had options last night.

Undoubtedly a disappointing year from Bower, whatever the reasons.

Don't think we'll be giving up on him just yet, though.

He looks extremely awkward with the footy but it generally pays off more often than not.He plays on first than thinks second and has a habit of handballing to a guy in front of him but it's often a welcome relief from defenders slowing down the play.

Yesterday nothing went right for him, though.

I know lots of Carlton supporters and I don't know any of them who would honestly compare Bower to O'Brien, who should be nearly AA this yr.

Bower is a young developing defender who lacks clear decision making skills but has been hampered by injury this yr., who with time may develop into a handy 3rd defender.
