Even most premium monitors have shit stands so don't worry about that. Also don't worry about HDR as unless you're willing to spend at least a grand you're probably not going to find proper HDR anyway. It's one area monitor technology is really behind in. It's an IPS panel too which isn't the best suited to HDR anyway but it will have pretty decent colours and brightness in SDR.

The review on rtings is for a different model anyway. Haha.

I have the LG 27-GL850 as my main monitor and it is great. I tossed up between both and went the GL over the GP as the comparisons all said there was little difference between them and the GL was cheaper. If there is in fact little difference then you'll be on to a winner with that monitor.

The Asus OLED monitors sound impressive

The 34 inch ultrawide really interests me. No doubt there will be a hefty ROG tax though.

With my 40th coming up and needing as much real estate for work - thinking of getting another monitor. Getting the Omnidesk has been a godsend. Monitor arms too I'm glad I got, as the flexibility to go portrait is handy with coding as well.

How much do you think it'll go for?

Current OLED 34" ultrawides are from $1400 to $1800'ish. New panel, new tech so just guess work at the moment. I got the AW3423DW when it first launched for $1400. It uses a Samsung QD-OLED panel but Samsung sell their own models for much more. I think all the new ASUS OLEDs will be using QD-OLED so they'll be Samsung panels again. So even with ROG tax (which isn't as pronunced as it used to be) I'd guess pricing might be in that $1600-1800 ball park. But then again there will be a 4K OLED in the stack now so prices might be adjusted for everything.

Bugger. Thanks fellas.

I have 3080ti so should be still sticking with 1440p instead anyway?

3080ti will still be able handle anything thrown at it at any resolution for some time. You actually get a bit better performance economy as you go up in resolutions because you don't need as aggressive AA to clean up edges so you can divert that compute power into other settings. With AI upscalers it should only get better.

Air cooling FTW.

I’ve got a Noctua DH15S chromax black but would probably go for a peerless assassin if I was building now.

I had a major fright a couple of days ago started getting black screen flickering and then my PC would try reboot not always successfully.

I’d done a windows update and it had over written my AMD Radeon GPU drivers

DDU then reinstalled Radeon software and drivers and issue fixed.

Swapping all my shitty corsair rgb stuff out and going back to an air cooler is going to be so much better too.

The RGB rings on my NZXT fans have yellowed ☹️

Next build I'm going stealth but still a window so I can still see it, unlike my job where even if I do the most pretty work ever nobody is ever going to see it.

What size and budget? 28 inch range is swamped with everything using the same Innolux IPS panel. Gigabyte M28U, Samsung G7 (standard G7, not the Odyssey), ASUS TUF vg28 etc and can be bought from anywhere from $700'ish to $1000. LG have just refreshed their Ultragear range and the 27GR93U is $899. Depending on what you're after they might be a hard sell considering what's available in 1440p. When I was recently looking for a good 4K second monitor for UE5/dev stuff and a bit of gaming when I don't want to use my ultrawide, I was happy to spend the money but found all those monitors disappointing for that price. Since Samsung are trying to push the latest 32" Neo Odyssey G8 they're trying to clear Odyssey G7 stock so I grabbed that. 4K VA, 10 bit with over 1000 dimming zones so it can do real HDR and 165hz. It's not Gsync certified but I can confirm it's definitely compatible. The $1299 might still be too much depending on what you want to spend but it's $300 off and once they go only the much more expensive G8 will be available. I love my OLED ultrawide but getting sold on 4K. Once OLED starts rolling out in good high refresh 32" 4K panels I may consider converting to full time 4K.

Been looking for the last week and I'm between a Neo G7/8 or the LG 32GQ950B, Trying to weigh up the differences and the main one seems to be the poor HDR on the LG which isn't really a problem for me.

The LG is also IPS where as the Neo G7 and 8 are VA. So there's that to take into account too. Those nano IPS panels are awesome so it will be pretty vibrant and being IPS it will have great motion handling, but the draw back will the standard IPS ones - poor blacks, low contrast etc.

The G7 I'm pretty sure is end of life which is why you can pick it up so cheap (I got mine direct from Samsung for $1299 and saw it for $1099 just after it arrived, but it has since gone up again. Edit: errm it has gone back to full price $1599?). Once that goes out of stock you'll only be left with the G8. The G8 is more expensive but is 240hz but there are numerous reports of flickering at that refresh rate so most people cap it to the same 165hz of the G7. I can confirm the G7 is Gsync compatible but it's not certified, so if that matters for peace of mind then obviously the LG.

If you want to take HDR into consideration though then the G7/8 is the best you'll get outside of OLED. It's super bright and being a VA with over 1000 dimming zones it gets near OLED blacks with no blooming or zone edge outlines. I used to detest VA panels for smearing and motion blur but I think that's an old thing and the technology has improved. I don't think it's unique to the G7 but I don't notice any of those things that used to make me hate VA.

Decided to jump up from a 3900x to a 5800x3d. Needed to change my cooler as I'm sick of my AIO and accidentally slipped in a new CPU into my cart.
Have been considering something similar recently. I mostly play the same few CPU limited games (EU4, Rimworld, HOI4 etc) when I have the time to play and the uplift from a 3600 is super tempting

Maybe ill wait to see if a G7 comes back on sale anytime soon.

I have been watching lots of videos since yesterday on the 5800x3d. Such a good CPU and makes me a little envious. Some games it was neck and neck with my 5900x but for many it was about 15% better and a few games I saw about 40% more frames. Who would have thought a mere 30mb more of L3 cache would be so drastic with lower clock speeds. It wasn't that long ago that cache was irrelevant when selecting a CPU for a gaming PC. Same price as the 5900x too which makes the 5900x a completely useless buy these days unless you're doing some sort of productivity. As much as I'd love to swap for a 5800x3d now I do love how much my 5900x crushes tasks like light building in UE, baking textures in Substance Painter etc, but as next year is definitely going to be a build year I'll be definitely opting for an x3d CPU. The x3d processors don't come out straight away so if there aren't any Ryzen 8000 x3d CPUs I'll probably go for something like the 7900x3d.
