I can kinda understand why someone with a 4080/4090 might be a bit annoyed with the 5080 performance, but at the same time that's a bit of an outlier situation, most people don't upgrade like that, and the 4080/4090 is still an awesome card. And a ~15% improvement on the 4080 is still an improvement.

For me though it will be like going from a caveman stick figure hunting a stick figure deer to Michelangelo's David. Am pumped.

Yeah the kind of muppets that absolutely have to upgrade at every possible opportunity, with each upgrade absolutely having to be a massive step up are definitely a vocal minority.

I'm just going straight for what is probably the most expensive because everyone is turning their nose up at it lol. I know 100% there will be stock of the flagships just not many so I might be able to take advantage while many initially scoff at the price. So I don't have to look at the hole in my savings I'm actually going to put most of it on the plastic and just transfer chunks over the next couple months before interest kicks in so I don't even have to look at it lol.
feel free to buy me one too :drunk:

seeing people on Reddit complaining that they're not gonna upgrade their 4080 super is kinda hilarious

There is definitely some anger going around in not needing to spend money.

Me personally I don't care. 4080 to 5090 is looking like 2x performance and I committed myself quite a while ago. It's more than just the card itself, it's more to cap off two years of shit that began this day two years ago. The life story isn't needed but retail therapy is real and as long as you aren't biting off more than you can chew splurging on yourself is sometimes a really good thing.

I can afford the 5090, I just can't justify it.

When the kids are older, like high school age and they're much more independent then I could probably justify it. The youngest turns three this year so I've still got a while 🤣

Yep :D

More 5090s than I thought across all of their stores. Granted we're a smaller market and won't get allocation anywhere close but that fills me with a little bit of hope.

Also Centrecom's 5080 prices are up and they look the same as what was leaked from Mwave previously.

PCCG confirming 1am launch and availability. I'd assume they'd have the lion's share of all retailers and they're reporting 0 5090 stock and very low for most 5080s.

Also says they won't be doing queues. When I asked Scorptec it sounded like they will so hopefully they don't let me down at 1am. At this stage I'm not even expecting one tomorrow. I just want to order the damned thing and know there is one with my name on it somewhere that will come sometime and I don't have to worry about checking stores and stuff. Not doing 30 series again. **** that.

That's looking the way. It's the same in every market. I emailed Scorptec the other day just to confirm they were doing a queue so I'm not wasting my time when I jump on and their only ~2 5090s sell out in seconds. I got a pretty lengthy reply that wasn't a copy and paste that was trying to tell me everything without actually saying anything. Sounds like retailers are under some pretty tight agreement that they can't say anything at all. Couldn't even get a release time, but just to keep an eye out for when they release in the US. That's generally accepted to be 9am ET US which works out to 1am AEDT. I'm going to bed straight after dinner tonight and will set an alarm for just before midnight to be ready. I'm not expecting to get one but at least just to go early in the queue. Reading around it sounds like there is a substantial shipment coming mid Feb.

Battlestations!!

The 20080 will be $20,000 by then though!

I love that people are already on Ebay with 5080/5090 ads for around RRP, except with warnings all over the ads saying they're just trying to f*ck with scalpers and bots and to not buy it because all you'll get is a piece of paper with a picture of a 5080/5090. Hopefully they get a few

so I'm not sure I managed to get an "in-stock" gaming trio, but also it says Sold Out this morning and you can't buy it at all so I guess I am in an early queue of sorts?

update: Mwave were taking pre-orders so ordered a 5090 Suprim SOC. Now I wait. But that's ok, at least it wasn't a total waste

update: damn Scorptec just listed the Suprim for pre-order too lol. Looks like March ETA. At least it's done.
Mwave just seem to be taking endless preorders, if they're actually taking full payment that could get messy if they can't source stock quickly.

As long as they do them in order that's fine. Same thing happened for 30 series but that was also a shit storm. I contacted Scorptec a little while ago if they'd be taking orders regardless of inventory and they said yes but only for stuff that had a near and firm ETA from their supplier. They've got the Suprim for March so that gives me a little confidence that stock is at least coming in by then. By all reports supply should be picking up substantially over the next month

Update: they've closed taking orders on that card. They maybe capping orders based on expected availability. Looks like all of the stores have changed their policy on this after previous launches.

Did you select pickup or postage? Because if pick up you'll know if/when you get a notification in probably the next couple hours.
