Can Carter play for Peel?

Thanks for the reports too!

Yes WAFL released a statement, indicating as such, due to him being aligned to Freo via Academy and to fast track his development..

A one off decision obviously driven by Freo.

I think it helps that he has finished year 12 and is only a few months younger than Cerra but due to a quirk on months of eligibility he wasn’t available for drafting last year, and can still play U18 footy this year

Great work wayToGo_ !!

I understand the quality of opponent was weak but I can’t remember a time since the first year draftees have taken out 1,2 and 3 in the best players ( in supporters opinions) in early games.

Fills me with great hope that the level of quality in the list has gone up a level.

Can’t wait to get to some Peel games this year
Make no mistake, we are creating a very good list. Players will all peak at a similar time as well.

The Carter ruling probably has as much to do with where he’s from than anything else. He was boarding here for school for years and now isn’t at school meaning if it wasn’t for the club it’d probably be up to him and his parents to organise living arrangements. The club has to relocate Carter in a similar way to how we relocate interstate draftees - only difference is he has lived here previously. He’s going to be on our list next year - may as well treat him like a draftee already.

Our other academy kid Thomas Medhat lives in the metro area probably with his parents and given his birthdate is probably still at school this year. It’s far less practical to do the same for him.

Is he going to be on our list? Of course I expect and hope he is, but it actually makes a bit of a mockery of the idea that aligned players can be bid on by other clubs.

I think the difference between Medhat and Carter is that Freo want Carter. They wouldn't move a kid if they weren't sure. I'd imagine Carter plays Colts first up and then will have AIS and State Carnival commitments as well

While i can totally see your point its actually relatively common practice, especially for FS kids in Vic. They are often given exemptions from TAC Cup to play VFL.

When is Peels next scratchie ? Anybody know?
The match they played against Perth must have been an unofficial scratchy. Perhaps an intra club this weekend. The WAFL preseason starts next weekend:

ROUND 1
Saturday, 10 March
3:45pm - Claremont v Peel Thunder at Claremont Oval

ROUND 2
Saturday, 17 March
2:15pm - Peel Thunder v Subiaco at Bendigo Bank Stadium

ROUND 3
Saturday, 24 March
1:30pm - Peel Thunder v East Perth at Bendigo Bank Stadium

According to the WA football website entry to all WAFL PS games is free.

Got nothing :(

Darcy, Jones, Hughes, Cox, Sheridan, Nyhuis, Duman, Cerra, Crowden, North, Dixon, Switkowski, Giro, Strnadica would all be possibles though and I'd assume most of them would play.

What happens at Peel this year if we only play 1 ruck and no Cox.

Leaves - Darcy, Meek, Jones, Apeness, Cox all to fit in one team at the least? Plus Stra*****ica a possibility as well.

Hopefully they dont force them all in, and max 3 of these guys playing in one team each week.

And Dixon. Will have the tallest forward line in the history of the WAFL and it will be nicknamed "the forest".
