Lot of s**t players, and Freo contributing a fair few of them. Conrad Williams one of the worst. Anyone singing his praise after 1-2 possessions to start the game needs to get their head read. He shouldn’t be playing league yet, and is a long long way off even being a decent WAFL player.

Peel desperately missing Wagner, Worner, Erasmus, Emmett. Too little done by too few.
No I don't need my head read. I sang his praises because he looked very good early. Spent a lot of time forward and he wasn't any worse than 90% of the team. Other than Middleton and Hamling and to a lesser degree Blight, the whole team was garbage after the first quarter.

Early days but I think he has potential in the future. Good speed, agility and footy smarts and normally a pretty tidy kick. Whether he actually gets there, time will tell.

He’s looked league level within the last month. Quiet game today but let’s not overreact.

It’s like saying Taberner should never play for Freo again. Reactionary comment and dumb comment.

It worries me that Williams never gets any ball.

Even Stanley barely gets a touch.
Have to be realistic about these type of players too. We are talking about a Cat B rookie who wasn’t even close to being selected in the main or open rookie drafts, and a MSD selection.
If either becomes a genuine AFL player it’s a massive bonus, the stats will say there’s a 90% chance both won’t make it.
Stanley did look good on his debut though so there’s definitely something to work with there.

Eh, expectations often start from draft position but then get scaled and re-adjusted afterwards depending on what you see. Sturt was selected in the 1st round of the same draft that Schultz was selected at the 4th round in, but for the longest time (and still now to an extent), Schultz has had higher expectations on him than Sturt.

I'd disagree on Stanley: notwithstanding MSD selection, he has shown a lot of great attributes and I think can get to the level of being at least serious competition for a spot if he gets 1 pre-season in him. Conrad on the other hand I agree on: he's skinny even by soccer player standards and wasn't even that noteworthy at reserves level. 2 pre-seasons minimum.

Agree. Didn’t see the-game today but can’t wait to see Stanley after a big pre season. Nothing is guaranteed but fingers crossed.

Disgraceful. AFL players at this level, with less pressure, should be doing better than that in front of goals.
Huh? They only had ten AFL listed players, and the only recognised AFL forward was Tabs. Maybe Colyer of you call him a forward.

Guessing you didn't actually watch the game?

Anyhow, add Banners, Corbett, Emmett, Worner, and Bell back into this team and they should be going fine come finals.

Surely Banfield has played too many AFL games to qualify?

Wot are the rules for finals eligibility?
4.1.1 AFL Partner Club Players Participating in WAFL Finals
a) An AFL Player may play in the WAFL Finals where:
i. his AFL Club is not participating in the AFL Finals match on the same weekend as his WAFL Partner Club; and
a. the player must have played a minimum of six (6) WAFL League matches; and
b. the player has played two (2) of the clubs last eight (8) WAFL League home and away matches; and
c. the number of qualified AFL players eligible to play does not exceed twelve (12) AFL players.
ii. or where:
a. his AFL Club is still in the AFL Finals and playing on the same weekend then (i) does not apply.
b) Any special request for AFL Partner Club Players to participate in the WAFL Partner Club League or Reserves Finals when not qualified in accordance with these Rules must be submitted to the WAFC by Tuesday 5pm prior to the Final for approval by the WAFC. This rule is designed to provide AFL clubs with scope to manage their list given the development needs of young, emerging players and long term injured players. Any request endorsed must sit within the maximum cap of 12 AFL players.
c) Any Club that names a player on the Team Sheet knowing or intending that he will not play, or who seeks to manipulate the intent of Rule 4 will be investigated by the WAFC under rule 6.2 ‘Behaviour Detrimental to Football’, or any other applicable rule, and may be penalised.

As harsh as it is this isn’t year one or two of a rebuild. It’s a failure we didn’t make finals this year and Longmuir is lucky he isn’t under more pressure.

The first and only priority should be next season. If not playing WAFL finals helps a player be 100% right for day one of pre season they don’t play WAFL finals. Also players like Erasmus can make a big impact next season - more AFL experience will help him.

Peel shouldn’t be the priority for Freo. Came close yesterday to a finals contender without a bunch of our fringe players and their own players that’ll be available. They’ll be fine.

Anyone who’d benefit from having their season ended next week should finish up next week imo.

This kid is going to be a gun. With the emergence of Tracey as a short term ruck option, with both Darcy and Jackson on our list. We should probably delist Reidy and let Knobel ruck WAFL seniors next year.

It’s harsh on Reidy but we need list spots.
Reidy is more of a forward ruck. Knobel more ruck. Don't mind Smith at Peel but he is only depth quality. Certainly as the year progresses anyway. Has definitely fallen away.
