Of course he could do a McKinley and ask for a trade for more opportunites, then never be seen again, even in a middle of the road team. Lots on this site were screaming when he was allowed to go and look how that turned out.
I think it was more the fact that we traded him away for pick 80ish than actually caring about him leaving. Still won that trade.

Also won that trade due to the fact the NM website brought out an article full of gold from Mckinley saying he could play midfield

Any one of Kerr, Shuey, Scooter, Priddis? Oh so this is why he isn't getting a game.

Stevens could and should of Played FULL Games when Priddis was concused and also when Shuey was suspended, Or he could take a position on the bench ahead of players like Hams, Mcginity.

Well he got to be the sub for one.
When Shuey was out though, the selection of Swift made sense when you look at the wafl fixturing (if you agree Swift and Stevens appear to be around the same mark, regularly being in the 25). Both were able to travel and both were able to get game time with Stevens playing on Monday.

I agree with him being ahead of Hams and McGinnity in terms of ability, but if he took either of their spots it's unlikely he'd get time on ball, which is what people are asking for. Otherwise it will be a case of bringing in a player to play in a strange position (see Masto, which although is working now, took time).

Apart from Judd, I don't think West Coast has ever had a player leave and go on to be decent. You could even argue Judd went downhill.

If Stevens is as good as people are saying I think thats a testament to how well our midfield is going now to keep him out of the team.

He had that one good year in 08 even then he went missing at times. But i did have a laugh when he did his first pre-season at north and there was all this hype how he is training the house down and impressing all the players.....but yet i swear he hasnt even played a game for them.

Played 1 game last year and I went on to the North board to see how he went..........the reviews and opinions were not kind of Ben's performance.

He was interviewed on Eagle Vision last week, and spoke very positively about his time here. Said that this was the 1st year he had been injury free and able to do a full pre-season, and was now working on breaking into the team. Said he had lived with a fabulous host family his first year, and then lived with Brad Shepherd and his family for a year, and had been made to feel a real part of both families. He said he really loved Perth, and was very grateful to the club for everything they had done for him. Really loved being part of a great group of guys, and going to work every week with 40 mates. Overall he didn't sound unhappy or that he was looking to leave, but I guess he would have to consider any offers that came his way.

Yep, not sure why more people don't see that this has been his first year injury free so I don't expect him to have this heightened expectation to be smashing it in the AFL.

Yeah, im pretty sure he's happy at Westcoast. But then again so was Ebert from the sounds of things and he was getting games.

Koby would be stupid to hang around beyond 2013 if he hadn't cracked ino the side on a regular basis.

Ebert however also has a very strong family connection with Port Adelaide.
If it wasn't Port Adelaide going after him then I suspect he would still be here.

Maybe what I should of said is that no player has left and gone on to play better than they have with us. Gehrig being the only standout.

With the Eagle vision interview, of course he is going to say positive things. Its a show dedicated to the Eagles. Its not like he is going to say he hates it here.

But he could also say non comittal things, like Scully.;)

No you can't.

Since crossing to the Blues his CV reads:

All-Australian 2008 (Captain), 2009 (Vice-Captain), 2010, 2011(Vice-Captain).
Leigh Matthews Trophy 2011
Runner up Brownlow Medal 2009.
Brownlow Medal Winner 2010.
Best and Fairest Winner 2008, 2009, 2010.
The Age Player of the Year 2009.
Captain- 2008 to present.

In fact, you could argue that on an individual award basis (premiership aside), he has achieved more at Carlton than what he did at WCE which is an amazing effort. He did win a Norm Smith in that premiership year but hasn't had the opportunity to go for that in a current Carlton team which is not his fault considering what he has already achieved playing for them.

Pretty much has been carrying this Carlton side the entire time.

I do agree that very rarely do the Eagles lose a player who carries on the same output or better elsewhere but Judd was never going to go "downhill". He is a once in a generation type player.
