Good news with the GCSLC being used this weekend for netball's Queensland Premier League finals. A future professional Super Netball franchise on the Gold Coast is an absolute possibility with this venue. The newly created Sunshine Coast Lightning took out the Super Netball Championship this year and we know the QLD Firebirds have been very successful in the past so I'm of the opinion that a third professional franchise based in south east Queensland is a possibility.

Either way, it's just great to see regular sport being played in the Carrara precinct.

Sam McClure said this morning on Sen Breakfast that The Suns wont have a home game at metricon till after round 11.
He went on to say we will have 7 away games and 4 home game likely to be at the Gabba, Cairns, Townsville and China

What will happen with memberships next season ?
There's no way they can charge the same as previous year with 4 home games not being played at metricon

They will include the 2 gabba games in it so we'd get at least 7 membership games. I think from memory it worked out to about $25-30 per game for the basic reserved seats. So I expect it will start at $175-210.

Yeah I'm silver reserved member and pay about $310 so I'd hope for about $90-$100 off because we will get 3 less home games (cairns,Townsville,China) then traveling cost for 2 games at the dump they call the Gabba

Travelling cost? I doubt they'd factor in that considering free public transport on the train and buses. But who knows how bad public transport will be affected by gc2018. I'm a courier driver on the coast so eagerly awaiting to see how this Willa affect my job.

That's the thing the afl originally said the Suns won't be playing any home games at the Gabba when the games are on because of already maxed out transport options and no extra buses for football games

The stadium is unavailable for alot longer than the games, so can still play at the gabba just not during the games. Think I read they were going to do a double header with Brisbane at the gabba too.

That would be a huge disaster

4 home matches away
2 at the Gabba
I feel like weeping
Potentially it's only 3 home games away,
Townsville, Cairns and China. Maybe the Gabba game is Brisbane's home q clash.
If the stadium is out of action until Rd 11.
Rd 1,2,4,6,8 away
Rd 3, Townsville
Rd 5 gabba q clash
Rd 7 Cairns
Rd 9 China
Rd 10 bye

Rd 11, 13,15,16,18,20,21,23 home

I'd be very disappointed if our home q clash was at the Gabba. Essentially gifting Brisbane an extra home game.

I don't see why we can't play the first 11 rounds away then the last 11 at home.
It's not as though Metricon Stadium is shared with anyone else.

Players can try and motivate themselves to try and be 5-6 or at worst 4-7 at the halfway point and then come home (literally) with a wet sail.

We are Gold Coast.

More about player welfare can't have them flying to Melbourne and back then Adelaide and back then Perth and back then China and back. Too much stress on the players body's and minds. And we know we're not the strongest side.

I'm with Boddsy.
If it was a sensible schedule you could get through it, then get the rewards in the back end with a string of home games.
Back to back games in Perth or Adelaide would help, turn it into a road trip.
2 games in Sydney, since that is the shortest flight.
Lions at the Gabba.
Play in Cairns, then off to China. Would be part way there already! The bye follows.

The scoreboard is almost gone IMG_7237.jpg

The one thing I hope they do after the games is get rid of the border and make it one big screen, I hate when they show replay and the footage is stretched and it makes the players look like fat little short people.
Would still be room for digital sponsors logos and will be more room for stats and social media stuff IMG_7238.JPG

Stadiums QLD are replacing all of the screens in major stadiums across qld with brand new high def ones so I'd imagine that you'll get one of them post comm games. One has already been done at the gabba and is a massive improvement with the other to be completed by the time the ashes come around.
