Reliable transport is definitely a must for such stadiums where things will keep happening whether its sport, or entertainment.

Could they extend the train line closer to the ground, or is a light rain the best bet?

Someone else can proably explain this better and in greater depth.

I don't think so. The purple line is the current Gold Coast line with Nerang station marked.

The only feasable way to do it other than buses would be a light rail branch from Nerang through to the stadium.

There might be another way to do it from the other end but I'm not local enough to know about it.

I think light rail is the best solution. There is not too much room for movement for the train line but definitely could have the tram come west. The light rail would help tourists too as a lot stay in inner city areas like Broadbeach. Surfers is also a short tram ride from the Broadbeach hub too. Seems like a given…

Back in 2018, Mayor Tate stated that the coasts few ferry system would run from Broadbeach to Heritage Bank.. not too sure what happened to that!

What about a spur from the trainline that the train would just use on game days?

On game days, the train could veer from Nerang to the stadium, then back on to the track to complete its normal route.

That way you wouldn't have vehicles just sitting there.

Sydney Olympic Park already has something similar for big games.

There was a study in 2020.

Gold Coast light rail: Funding for tram spur lines to Metricon and Cbus stadiums

Links to Robina and Nerang will be investigated as part of a $7 million business case on the light rail’s future, bringing the yellow and blue G-Link trams to Metricon Stadium and Cbus Super Stadium. Here’s when they will arrive.

But it's not in Proposed 2031 Gold Coast high-frequency public transport network. Considering that QLD will spend 2.7B on Gabba and federal government 2B on Sports Centre for Olympic games I am not holding my breath. Unless someone here got some spare cash? I guess 500M could do.

This is probably the study that will give us a lot more information regarding transport around Heritage Bank Stadium. Due for competition early 2023.

I think there is definitely scope and a need for a spur line from Broadbeach along Nerang-Broadbeach Road to Nerang Station. It will then link up to rail.

From Broadbeach South station, some options for locations it would travel past and could stop up

FROM Broadbeach South Station
  • Surfers Paradise Golf Club
  • Carrara Markets
  • Carrara Sports Precinct (Heritage Bank Stadium)
TO Nerang Station

I do think though getting the tram to the airport should be a priority and is being planned. Once that is done (or at the same time) we can then hope for a connection to Nerang. There will also be a need for the tram to also go to Robina especially with the Athlete Village being located there for 2032 and Cbus Stadium too.

The interesting part for me is what they would do at cow corner, do they build an overpass? This would be very expensive

Wouldn't it just follow the slip road left at the Carrara markets old Go Kart site?Dont think it would need an overpass?
That route would cut travelling time for people (including staff) getting to Pac Fair by half if they were trying to use heavy +light from Helensvale and also serve Emmanuel College
It would probably be quicker than Helensvale to Burleigh too with a change at Pac Fair
It has always seemed the most obvious spur

If I’m thinking of the right spot I would think residents would complain.

Three countries will make their PacificAus Sports Netball Series debut this April when eight teams compete in the series’ third edition on the Gold Coast.

The series will be held at Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 April 2023, with the Opening Ceremony taking place on Sunday 23 April.

For the first time, African nations Kenya, Malawi and Zambia will travel to Australia to compete in the competition against returning teams Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Singapore and dual-series champions Tonga.

Under the PacificAus Sports program and funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the series highlights the skills, talent and athleticism of Pacific netball athletes, and aims to provide high-level competition for the national teams of Netball Australia’s PacificAus Sports partners.

The inclusion of the three African nations provides an opportunity for Pacific partner countries to improve their performance through exposure to teams rarely competed against.

In a benchmark year for netball with the Netball World Cup and Commonwealth Youth Games, as well as the Netball World Youth Cup in 2025, greater diversity of teams in events such as the PacificAus Sports Netball Series aim to improve netball’s international standard.

The series hit Australia for the first time in March and October 2022, to establish itself as a pivotal tournament for international netball teams’ preparation in the lead up to the 2023 Netball World Cup in July.

Anyone else notice the smaller rectangular (analog?) scoreboard on the western side of the stadium was upgraded to an LED screen in the off season? It now shows team logos and far more legible scores. A small upgrade but it's a nice addition to the stadium. Now we just need the rest of the second tier advertising to be upgraded to LED screens like the bottom tier.

You want more bright flashing LED advertising?

Less intrusive the better imo

Does anyone know where the general admission seating sections are at the stadium? I am looking to go next weekend to suns v cats. But not sure if I should get a reserved seat or just GA.

Get a reserved seat - better view from top level front or half way up

There is so much GA space.. all 4 pockets from either side of the cheer squads…. (If you can call ours that 🙄) to about the 50m arc
