What are the odds that when Heritage Bank/People’s Choice Credit Union announce their merged name the media will try and claim it’s a change of sponsor/will this one last longer than X months etc, oblivious to the fact it’s the same sponsor (ala Bankwest/CommBank Stadium)

TIL That's what happened to Bankwest Stadium.

I mean you'd like to think with the merger already being finalised that we'd have gotten the inside word on this and won't need to change anything.

But it is us so...

Wonder what happens if they adopt a whole new brand. Weird to spend all that money branding the stadium with this going on unless they're already set on Heritage Bank as the brand.

Possibly. When Bendigo and Adelaide Bank merged, they bascially wiped the Adelaide Bank brand and just traded as Bendigo Bank.

Having said that, People's Choice Credit Union is itself a rebrand from a merger of two credit unions.

I guess it'll be some time before the new name emerges, and then time to start the rebranding process, including for the stadium. People's Choice had a rebrand a couple of years ago and alot of their branches still have the old livery, so the two brands could live on for some time even after the merged name comes out.

Not sure how many people are interested but Harry Styles is going to absolutely obliterate the all time attendance record at our stadium in less than 24 hours from now. The media are predicting 50k people will be in attendance which is considerably larger than the previous record set by Queen who pulled just under 40k. It's times like these you really wish the light rail went to our stadium because it's going to be in absolute nightmare trying to get 50k people in and out of there.

The fact that we’ve had the comm games there AND football for a decade and there’s still no light rail or transport aside from old school buses to the stadium is a crime itself.

The fact that we’ve had the comm games there AND football for a decade and there’s still no light rail or transport aside from old school buses to the stadium is a crime itself.

My knowledge is from Google maps and news stories, so shut me down if I'm completely wrong.

I believe the eventual goal is for new light rail line to come ~10km from Broadbeach, past the stadium, and the Nerang train station, right?

With that unlikely to be accomplished by the Games, would a compromise of just a light rail between Nerang station and the stadium be beneficial? Essentially just a 2km shuttle from the train station.

Then when the time comes, that line's already 20% done.

I attended the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony (approx 40,000) and the bus shuttles were a nightmare. I got back to my hotel in Broadbeach at 3am after the long lines for busses.

The transport plan for Carrara Sports precinct needs to be fixed.
The lightrail is a must for Carrara. Apart from Heritage Bank Stadium. There is also now the GC Sports and Leisure Centre that hosts occasional Netball, NBL and other major events as well as the Carrara Indoor Stadium. This is the major thing that the precinct is missing. Also they could add a footbridge over the main road too as there is safety concerns and a bus stop next to the stadium to be used for non event days (such as club events, local sports at the indoor stadiums etc).

I guess nothing has come from this

only problem with that is how many trams do you station at this small stretch of track? just one and it shuttles back and forth? or two and for 90% of the time they are sitting there doing nothing?

Just using a bus like this

Would make a difference instead of using busses like this

Yep and busstops on other side of road, and pedestrian bridge over the road would help immensely
A bridge would be huge to stop traffic jams a lot more for regular traffic. Especially at the end of a match/concert when everybody leaves.

Pretty sure the concert tonight is so massive that the road is just closed though.

Bridge more important for buses that come from boowaggan that now go past the stadium, uturn and back and get caught in traffic both ways.
If they have busstops on other side of road, bus from boowaggan can stop, people get out and it goes onto nerang, picks up people and drops them on stadium side busstops. And then it goes to boowaggan and repeat. A simple circle route
