Wasn't there talk about water taxi's years ago being an option?
unless they are using channel crossing type ferries, wouldnt make a dent.

the best solution would be a tram line linking broadbeach to nerang station with a stop at stadium. wont happen tho.
but ideally they would divert the funding for the extension south thru palm beach to cooly and do that.

second ideal solution is a dedicated bus lane where needed between stadium and bunch of park n rides.
they need the double length buses too.

They could easily have a bus lane. It’s three lanes there by the stadium.

How stylish was Harry?
Just dropped my son off at the basketball stadium at Metricon, heaps of rubbish surrounding the stadium from the concert last night, it’s quite disappointing.

On another note, the boys are playing a scratch match on the back oval at the moment, very tall forward line as has been discussed and as it stands at the moment, the B team are beating, the beating the A side. Overall the skills are well let’s just say disappointing considering the perfect conditions

Not allowed to post the whole article. Not much in it. Usual issues.

It seems to me when 50K rock up for the concert, taking train to Nerang and walk to stadium is easily the best option. Most people can do 25 min slow walk.

Below is typical insanity - spending 3 hours instead of walking 25 min, then taking train to station along the line where you can park a car.
One fan told the Bulletin they had to wait an hour to get on the shuttle bus to Nerang Station, spent another hour on the bus and then was stuck in the Nerang Station car park for 45 minutes.

It’s the same shit show at CBUS Super stadium for Titans games as well as Heritage Bank stadium trying to find parking is a complete nightmare and near on impossible and the truth of the matter is it definitely impacts overall crowd numbers and is a factor in why we don’t get better numbers. Unfortunately until they do something to address it the crowd attendance will remain the same. For both stadiums there is vacant land/old industrial areas nearby that they could use for parking but don’t.

You get the feeling the afl team aren't flying at the minute. Hopefully they kick into gear come rd1. Our reserves will be very hard to beat this year though.

You certainly don't want to fly right now like we did last year and started 2W 5L. Let's see in round 1.
Absolutely. Some of the most successful teams have looked terrible in pre season previously. Geelong were finished when we destroyed them last year in a practice game. Sydney are known to struggle in pre season then go well.

maybe they need a sign up saying - path to nerang station, distance 2.5km, walking time 25-30 mins

Signs are there. Public announcement too (at least during the games). I walked that path many times.
yeh its what i do as well. i used to be a boowaggan park n ride but it would shit me how i would go past the stadium, get caught in traffic, do a uturn, and then get caught in traffic, mostly cars trying to get parking in red carpark under basketball when not entitled to and the officials have to stop every car and speak to them (and we just wait in the bus caught in the queue).
i figured out better to just drive to nerang, park and walk for 25 mins listening to another footy game on my radio which is usually the case.

i get some people cant walk and those people do bus, but for those who can they should to free up bus space

I now found better and closer free parking around Emmanuel College. Just 15 min walk and no issues for most games including big ones like Richmond. Although I do arrive a bit earlier. Nerang station parking is hell with big crowds just to get out. No such issue with Emmanuel College.

I usually park right next to exit. Or on the street heading out

Blue parking season ticket it’s about $100. Best add on to a membership. Never had any trouble

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Yeh blue parking is good. Did that in 2020 when i went to basically every game played up here.
Red parking is the one that gets in way of buses

The really sad part about all these transport issues is that this has been going on since the Brisbane Bears days back in the 80s when they first started playing VFL/AFL games at Carrara. It's never been a convenient ground to get to and the public transport has always been lacklustre at best. A direct line from an 'inner city' hub like Broadbeach would be sufficient if they extend the light rail from Broadbeach South Station out west to Nerang Station with a stop out the front of the stadium.

Perhaps the best opportunity we have is for the Olympic Committee to approve cricket for the 2032 Games and our stadium be announced as the official host for the Olympic cricket tournament due to the Gabba already being used for other events. The IOC has made it abundantly clear that transport to and from olympic venues is very important and we already know the Sports and Leisure Centre adjacent to our stadium is hosting wrestling and judo events so if we add cricket to the agenda then I do think there will be a lot more pressure to extend the light rail to the precinct before the 2032 Games begin.

We can only hope the governments at all levels sit up and take notice of this issue. The Harry Styles concert last night showed that we're obviously capable of hosting big events on the Gold Coast, but the transport issues are going to hold us back. We need to find a solution before our Suns start regularly selling out the stadium on our way to several deep finals runs.
