Ooo, I can do this too. A vote for Liberals is a vote for 10 billion dollar debt and nothing to get us back in the black.
Liberals plan is to sell Western Power and voluntary redundancies in the public sector. It's fine to disagree with their plan but at least they have a plan. What's Labors plan? They don't have one.

Well Julie, can I call you Julie? The Liberal plan appears to be to spend like there is no tomorrow, then sell off as many assets as possible to cover for the shortfall. Never think about the future.

The ALP's plan is to be responsible economic managers. That is reduce public spending and maintain public income. We may get the chance to see how they carry out their plan.

Liberals are dominated by failed small business owners who couldn't manage a fish and chip shop. This is why they are always terrible at managing the public purse. Nowadays they have been infiltrated by the far right (Abbott, Barnardi, Bolt etc) who make ideological decisions ahead of pragmatic ones.

You do realise both sides are spending the same amount of money, however liberals are spending it on stuff that will be of economic and cultural value such as the STADIUM when Labour would have spent it on train lines no one would have used.

My opinion is that the first statue should be Dennis Lillee
The media centre should be named after Dennis Cometti
And the Bridge should be named after the great goal kicker Austin Robertson Jnr (maybe nicknamed Austin's Arch)

I do realise that you have a loose grip on reality.
We have a stadium that is 4 years late because Barnett shelved the plans. Pavlich would have played at a new stadium if it wasn't for Barnett.
Train lines no one would have used? FFS: you mean train lines that you wouldn't have used, because it's all about you isn't it?

What are you talking about "4 years late", at least he actually did something unlike McGowan who would have stopped the current project pushing us back another 4 years and then we would have been left with a half asked job at Subi. And the train lines, Think about it we have a housing density problem at the moment, continuing to put train lines to outlying areas encourages it. So I'm pretty sure you have a loose grip on reality not me.

Because Carpenter went to his election with a plan to build a new stadium. When Barnett took power he stopped all plans until after his second term. Hence the 4 year delay.
You make no sense at all regarding train lines. Now if you were talking about extending and widening the freeways, you might have a point. Train lines and public transport encourage medium to high density housing.

Name one end the Sumich end. The other the Pavlich end if they want to legendary forwards from the two WA franchises.

Statues of Lillee, Cuthbert etc first up. Is that bible thumbing weirdo Margaret Court from WA? If so then not her, she's ****ed. Shirley Delahunty though.

Given that Dennis Lillee has lead the faction against moving cricket to the new stadium I can't see him being honoured there in this way. He might not want it anyway.

Wally Foreman already has a studio named after him at the ABC.

Maybe name the room that houses the TAB or the Smoking area after George.

Love FOT, but Herb Elliot is #1 by a mile .... no statues pls.

The Stadium had bi-partisan support when Carpenter was still around. What wasn't settled was the location. Carpenter's Labor chose Kitchener Park, Barnett and the Lib's preffered Burswood (the most expensive but iconic location of the 3 options).

The Barnett Government delayed the Stadium for 2 years (not 4 years) because of the GFC AND unsettled funding arrangements brought up by the Australian Bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Once the bid had failed (been betrayed) potential Federal funds were not going to come and the form of the Stadium was reevaluated because of a loss of justification in the $300 million reconfigurable ground tier in the initial proposal.

At the last State election, McGowan playing cynical politics pledged to scrap the Stadium, offering no alternative solution. Barnett never did that.

He was around in 86, but you are right, does a 3rds premiership qualify nope .... he was a teller in a bank I used out Kewdale way.
No statue Karl, I tried ... am trying !!
Langdon was definitely a member of the 1986 $ubiaco Premiership team he came in for John Georgiades from the Preliminary Final side that defeated Perth.

Yes you are right. I apologise to Karl. I must have wiped him from my memory.
Subiaco were amazingly good in 1986. One of the best teams ever. Such a shame that they had their heart ripped out by the introduction of the West Coast Eagles... but at least Subiaco fans know their team won the last real WAFL premiership.

Carpenter selected Kitchener Park as the site for the stadium after the taskforce, led by John Langoulant (a prominent Liberal who is no friend of Barnett). So I suppose that is bipartisan. Kind of. And Barnett only canned the Football redevelopment after he got elected. The GFC was an excuse, because for other governments providing a stimulus was the best way to weather the storm, not shutting up shop. The real reason Barnett stopped the stadium rebuild was his personal animosity to Langoulant. We know he is a petty and vindictive person. This is just another example.
Once he canned the redevelopment in February 2009, the 250 million dollars in federal funding became unavailable. It had been committed, and would have been honoured whether or not the World Cup bid was successful, if building had got underway.
The plans for the Kitchener Park stadium were that it would be open (with 40,000 seats) by 2014, to be completed by 2016 (with 60,000 expandable to 70,000 seats). So i am correct to say that 2018 is a 4 year delay. Pav would have played at the new oval for 3 years.
Barnett announced the new site for the stadium in June 2011. It is true that by the time of the last election, the ALP winning would have delayed the stadium even further. It was turning into a game of political football.

I am pleased the stadium has been built where it has. It looks wonderful, and I am excited to sit and watch Nathan Fyfe and others at the stadium. But I will never see the Pav there, and I may not see Aaron Sandilands there either. I am hopeful (but wary) that the greater cost of the stadium and the associated transport infrastructure costs won't result in the stadium being put out of reach of the people who paid for the stadium with their taxes.
I believe in user pays. If the payer can't use, where is the fairness in that? That would just be another example of taxpayers subsidising the rich.

You have the AFL, and you have VFL / WAFL / SANFL.

One or the other, you can't mix from those two groups.

Anyway, give me TI over Buddy anyday.
You have the VFL, which expanded to include interstate teams and re-named itself the AFL (aka VFL/AFL), and which is one continuous competition which added teams over time.
Then there's the SANFL/WAFL, and the VFA/VFL and (pre-AFL) VFL.

So you're not mixing from those groups if you name something after the leading WA-born goalkicker in VFL/AFL history.
Sure, sometimes the AFL forgets about things that happened in the SANFL and WAFL when they think about the history of the game, but we can't go too far the other way either.
