Is it just me or does it look like the visitors coaches box was forgotten and tacked on to the media centre as an afterthought (which could also be why it's on the wrong level too).

I don't understand why they need it. The visitor's coach can just use the Eagles box during a Freo game and vice versa.

Maybe for the umpires coaches. Let's see, one to monitor the bounce, one to monitor their positioning, one to monitor their signalling, one to monitor their interpretation etc.

Whats Tyler Hodges talking about then^^
CIVMEC won the contract earlier this year yes, but that was only due to the delayed construction of the Malaysia firm that won exclusive design and fabrication contracts back in 2014. Swan fabs made bids for subcontracts on the fabrication of Lighting base works as well as various handrail design jobs back In 2014 and 2015, only to be beaten time after time by (mostly) South Korean engineering companies as well as the York designers in Malaysia. I assume they didn't want any Australian work based on the fact that they were delayed. CIVMEC has the job now but its cost WA an extra 13 million dollars. My uncles company has done some sub contract work for CIVMEC recently but it's (as I stated before) works to fix/remake designs from foreign work to meet the Aussie standards.

You can see the cricket nets/pitch nursery area just to the north of the stadium.

Is anyone else a bit put off by the irregular sizes of the roof sails?

Surely they could've modeled the geometrical configurations a little more precisely than that.

If the stadium were a clock face, look at 11 o'clock and 6 o'clock.

cannot unsee now!

It is either an optical delusion with the angle and shadows of support structures, or it is an artifact of different aerial pitchers being stitched together.

If it's not an optical illusion, I guess the sails primary purpose is to keep sun out of the eyes not rain off the fans. Fans on the western side will have the sun in their back and don't need the sails to come so far over.
I think it's more to do with some shades being much *narrower* than others. The roofline is even above the whole stadium; it's just the angle of the satellite photo making it look different.

If it's going to be ready in December, why aren't the Scorchers playing at least 1 or 2 regular season games there?
Because packing it out without test events is a great way to find all the problems all at once with no time to sort them out...because the place is packed out.

Yeah but these test events are weeks before the Scorchers play. You'd think that whatever teething issues they encounter with the 10k crowd will be sorted by early January when they could schedule their last couple of home games there.

"Perth Scorchers’ reluctance to give up their substantial home-ground advantage at the WACA Ground is likely to prevent them moving to the Perth Stadium for the 2017-18 cricket season.

While stadium construction is on schedule and the new ground could still be opened in January 2018 with a major cricket event — most likely a one-day international against England rather than an Ashes Test — the Scorchers are not prepared to make a mid-season move.

WACA chief executive Chris-tina Matthews said the Big Bash League side received a significant competitive advantage at its East Perth headquarters and would be reluctant to play matches at two home grounds in the same season."
