Tell me in plainer terms lol, I don't like the crows Eddie

We are in an industry with 17 enemies. 18 if you count the snafl. The crows are no more or no less an enemy than any other club. Their proximity to Alberton distorts peoples views.

People talk to people from other clubs all the time.

Should Gold Coast sack Ablett because he rings Ken for advice?

Yes we could find a spot for him ;)

I'm with Eddie.
The Crows have nothing to do with it. He is a career person that may be presented with a career opportunity.

Well done and good luck is all that needs to be said plus make sure that we get a replacement.

Good post Eddie.
Too many on here have a hatred for the Crows. All clubs should be hated equally.

Yep and to quote Berlusconi, some are just that tad more equal than others.
Well he may not have used the word tad but close enough.

If he turns down the offer or he loses out to another candidate do we still want him at the club? For mine he's crossed the line even talking to the enemy
Can't understand why he would turn the job down.

For differing reasons, he trying to leave but staying is likely to have a ripple effect to the players. Given the family culture we have at the Power and he turning his back on it (especially as it was reported he would never join the Crows) I think this sends the wrong message to the players and he is likely to lose the players commitment. This may well be a destabilising influence. Walsh my well end up at the Cows even if he does not get the senior role. Dew senior, Walsh assistant.

I think we should pick up someone like McKenna anyway even if he stays at Port.

Is this for real? He's been headhunted for a job and he's taken a couple of interviews! So if he turns them down or misses out we should get rid of him anyway because his presence might destabilise the group? Are you serious? I re-read this post twice to make sure you weren't joking. Some of the hysteria surrounding this is just crazy.
So if Bolton misses out on the job should Hawthorn get rid of him because they're a family club?

I know the unwritten law is that you let blokes go for the highest position elsewhere etc. ok that's fine but if he's entertained a similar role at crowville that he has with us whether he turns it down or is knocked back it's ON YER BIKE for mine.

To be honest I've never seen Walsh as head coach material. It may have happened but I can't recall his name being linked to that role at another club.

He's one of the best strategists going around but what's he like as a player manager, a motivator and a mentor. He could turn out to be a fine head coach but I think there are few question marks. But that's true for any untried coach.

I think he has the right "I am the law, dont **** with me" persona to get a group of players thriving underneath him. I still think coaching is all about respect and he'd have that from a playing group. As has been said, I dont know how he'd go with having to be the face of a club, daily interviews, a salesman, a marketer etc. I think i've heard him have 2 interviews in 12 years.

Of course we still want him.

Yeah that would be the only question mark but no one will ever know until he has to do it.

Take a breath Jimbob! If it came out that you applied for a senior position at a rival company and were told you didn't get the job, I'd think that you'd be pretty peking duck if you're current employed told you to pack your bags.

The hysteria is compounded because it's the 2nd year in a row that we've been raided, and we've barely set out our foundations for this premiership run. Yes we were pissed when Richo left last year, but most of us rationalised that he was taking a promotion, 'bettering' himself and achieving something that he wanted for years. I think we need to apply some of this rationale to Phil, although I've never heard anything hinting to him wanting to be a head coach, he is entitled to take any interviews (and subsequent opportunities) for senior positions to the one he currently holds.

Could Bluey McKenna be a replacement if all this snowballs into reality?

Not sure of the quality assistants out there at the moment. whether Walshy gets the job or not, we need to move on quickly and start looking for suitable candidates. Hopefully this doesn't become a trend for us though.
Nah.... I love the idea of everone wanting what we've got.

So they've given sando the boot with absolutely no plan to follow up.
Typical.
In the AFL (and I guess most sport) 95% of the time a coach is booted their replacement is unknown. It's wrong to say the bovines had no plan, the plan was to do what we did 2 years ago and select from available talent.

Should we get Jared Brennan to talk to him, sound him out. A bloke that struggled connecting with his playing group perhaps we could get him and sando as a package.
