Easy solution, Hinkley recruits his old m8 Sando and we win the premiership that'll show em
Enough of the Sando talk. He was a shit coach.

My only confusion comes from the mouth of Ricciutio himself.

"..premiership coach.."

No one in the last 3 have coached a senior premiership have they?

Bolton is the best bet but they'll take Walsh in a typical Adelaide (the city not the corporation) cut off ones nose to spites ones face way of running things.

I wonder if we'll be talking to Bolton lol might be a few jobs to fill

No confusion. They thought they had one of Bomber or Clarkson. Piecing it all together from the start I'm still convinced they all but had Clarkson in the bag until Jarman opened his trap and scared him off. Now it looks like they'll be appointing a career assistant.

They are still getting Clarkson according to some on the psychedelic apricot slice

I'm just not concerned about this at all. Walsh would be a poor choice as head coach IMO but clearly the crows are looking for "their Ken Hinkley" in which case all signs point to them throwing a bucket load at Walsh.

If they get him they will have overspent massively to convince a guy who has expressed his utter dislike for their franchise many times.

If he is being coaxed into a head role which he has never really coveted then it's because the money is too good to refuse - and if it's a financially driven decision then it's for the wrong reasons and ultimately doomed

Same reason I didn't want eade here when it was rumoured we had told him to name his price

Of those 3 I would take Dew and obviously try and get Walsh, McKenna, watters, worsfold etc or similar as a senior assistant.
Dew has been involved in premierships with every team he's been to and learn from some of the best coaches and clubs. I think he's gonna be a great coach when his time comes

They will tell you we are reading it too literally. All three have been involved as coaches in premiership teams. Derp.

And that Walsh was always their first choice but never believed they could pry him away. #rightmanstanding wait for it

Just on Walsh and his influence on our group and the style we play, I'm not saying he hasn't had an impact, the improvement in Hamish and Robbie this season alone possibly suggests he has. But Phil Walsh has been an assistant with us before, and try as I might I can't really see a signature Phil Walsh trait in the way we go about our football that crosses both those eras. The styles of the Ken Hinkley era Port Adelaide and the Mark Williams era Port Adelaide, when Walsh was previously with us, are complete polar opposites. If I can find any similarity it would be the way we get burned on a losing stoppage because all of our mids are running forward of the stoppage, allowing the opposition to waltz it out the back.
What I'm saying is the way we play football now is pure Hinkley. He's a full on hands on coach who sets the standard and the style. The assistants like Walsh just tinker around the edges.
Absolutely 100% spot on. Must admit finbarr, am a fan of yours!

People keep saying this but he is getting more money and a higher position.

Walsh as senior coach and Nicks as senior assistant is incredibly underwhelming and screams as desperation but at least for their customers it will seem as they have at a minimum caused a huge distraction at Port!

Senior assistant isn't a higher position in the AFL's eyes. Contractually all assistant coaches are on exactly the same level no matter what fancy title is attached to their role. Senior Coach is the only "promotion" the AFL recognises.

Stewart Dew was in a similar position when Melbourne tried to poach him from Sydney. A contracted assistant who was guaranteed the senior job when Roos stepped aside. But Sydney said no, Dew couldn't go and wound up signing a three year extension with Sydney.

Swans say no to Roos, Dew stays

Are you tired of saying that yet? ;)

Ok .. Will invent a new word for Crows..
They want to play like Port Adelaide. They want to be like Port Adelaide. They want to poach a Port Adelaide coach and whoever they can from Port Adelaide...
They want to be PORTIFIED :) .... New name .. Portified Crows hahaha

IMO they had zero, zilch, nada, no chance at getting Clarko.

If one of his best mates in G Lyon couldnt convince him to move to Melb for big big money last year, the tingles would have even less chance to get him to leave an organisation he handbuilt from the ground up to the point they will legitimately have a shot at a 3-peat. You'd think for health reasons alone he'd stick with a stable, successful, professional outfit than move to the fishbowl that is the AFC.

Clowns like Rowe and Jarman simply got sucked into believing the only way their Sando would get the flick the way he did, so suddenly, would be for a big name coach. Then when they didnt anounce the replacement shortly after they did the knifing, rowe and jarman-type clowns desperately come up with the old 'oh he must still be involved in his teams finals campaign' and locked in their simple-minded guesses as Clarko.

Just listening to AA this morning and it's even sunk into Rucci. He's saying categorically a contracted assistant can't shift sideways.

So unless the crows offer Nicks the senior coach role, he can't go for season 2015, unless Port agree to let him go.

Rucci said yesterday that Nicks wouldn't be able to leave but I wonder if there is some loophole that's yet to be explored by a club whereby he can leave from assistant to assistant role.

Why is everyone surprised. Once the settling in period was over things were always going to go back to normal.

There have only ever been two options in SA
Port Adelaide and those who want to be like Port Adelaide. :)

There are noticeable traits across both Walsh midfield eras. Intense tackling, 100% pressure, elite hand skills are traits of Walsh midfields that we didnt have without him
