It's unprofessional if it's true, seems like a contract is worthless, I always heard he hated the crows? Anyway if true we move on. The crows will always have more money and members but they can't have what we have, you can't BUY that.

The second good decision that rabble have made in a row if they pull this heist off. Absolutely pissed if he's going over to that shit hole of a franchise. It was only a matter of time before Roo started turning things around, quite unfortunate really. Please hire Bolton.

It's great that we keep producing head coaches. That's the shit that shows the true pedigree of a club (after premierships of course).

Nothing is confirmed yet. Geez. They've clearly headhunted him, just as they did Haysman. He may take it, he may not. All I know is he's never been interested in being a senior coach before because he hates the limelight. It would be kind of ****ed up if it's Kenny who's instilled this new found confidence and self assuredness for him to actually finally see himself as senior coach material.
But until we hear anything people should just cool their jets. If they try and take him on as a senior assistant we should do everything in our power to hold him to his contract though.

I know Cameron Ling has said that he won't jump into coaching next year, but I would like the club to target him as an assistant. Ken loves him too!

Walsh, upon getting back to Port last year:
Link
"Port Adelaide is in my heart to a degree and I had 10 great years here, so when they said their might be a job here it was a perfect fit for me really," Walsh said.

"If I was in Adelaide I couldn't ever see myself working for any other club."
Link

Be a pretty huge turnaround if he joined the Crows.

I doubt he'd go as an assistant. But head honcho is a bloody hard offer to turn down.

As Finbar said... lets first wait and see what happens.
We all know they have been keen on him for a while.
Hes never struck me as someone that wanted the top job as hes always shied away from media but things change and if they sell the role well then who knows.
If he did go however the next step is to decide what type if coach we replace him with. Are we trying to replace experience with experience or woukd we be after a recent retiree.
Theres plenty if options. As an example theres two refently sacked guys (not advocating either btw)... theres voss and watters from last year. Failed senior coaches iften got the senior role as they were standout assistant's.
I reckon if I was one of those type of guys id be jumping out of my skin to get into our program.

Let's face it - massive loss. Walsh being a good senior coach is irrelevant, who knows if he will or won't be.

Ken loosing his right hand man two years in a row is ****ing shithouse. Great for the club that we are seen as a breeding ground for future senior coaches but it is ****ing with our consistency. If we had won a flag, yep okay - but we ain't won nothing. The two blokes that Ken would confide in the most are looking like being at other clubs (yes shit clubs but they still are gone).

Nothing about Walsh has ever screamed head coach to me. Very smart operator, very good technician, very good assistant. But that's it.

Had a long chat with him earlier this year and he was very self-effacing saying he didn't think he brought much different to Port's program and that Ken had it covered. Maybe he's looking for a bigger challenge and rebuilding the crows is a challenge. Like installing popular democratic government in Afghanistan.

Good luck to him if does get the job I guess. His role is not as important as Alan Richardson's was so it's tough to stand in his way even if he will never ever be forgiven. :p

I'm sure there are some very smart operators around who would love to come and learn from the best.
