As a club we've shown resourcefulness and innovation to strategically build and develop through recruiting and appointments. It is clear that the cows have watched us very closely and want to replicate our success with their money. We'll definitely recover from this and quickly, and find someone suitable before the end of the year I'd say.

Yeh, according to the brain surgeons over that way Ken can't coach and we only are a decent side due to Walsh. You couldn't make that shit up

24 months ago Sanderson was a premiership coach in waiting and Hinkley was the last man standing.

12 months ago order would be restored, easy draw versus much tougher draw. Superior depth, etc.

It sure is October.

This makes me laugh. I heard before the news got out about walsh that they had offered him a large sum to coach them because Roo wants adelaide to be better than port.

I laughed because they should want to be better than every team and not focus just on us. Looks like that rumour may be true now sadly.

I'm looking forward to him getting the gig so I can find out what he looks like.

Lol, this. The bloke is so media-shy that I honestly have no idea what he looks like or the first thing about him as a person. And now he's supposed to be taking over at probably the most media-saturated club in the AFL in this fishbowl of a state?

Can't wait to see Walsh's reaction the first time that an Advertiser photographer jumps in the car with him for a 'spontaneous' photo op with an old lady at a bus stop.

Clarko On the Couch on Monday night talked about losing Harwick, Cameron, Simpson and now maybe Bolton.

" In one way the unfortunate part of success is that people that have been an important part of your club for a very long period of time like Bolts has and Bevo (Luke Beveridge baclines coach) enormous contributions that they've made in supporting our coaching staff and players [ to the vision he goes on about the moment he and Bolton held up the cup on the fence at MCG) .... but if they do get opportunities at other clubs we like, you know Dimma has gone to Richmond, Leon's gone to GWS and obviiusly Simmo's gone across to West Coast and we just love the opportunities that those guys get. If they are aspiring to greater roles and greater responsibilites in the game, then we're delighted for them to get those opportunities - it will leave a little bit of a void at our club and we'll have to fill them, but we've done that before and we'l get the next coach in waiting. " Sheehan then asks him about Kennet - did you give him the Choco one You Were Wrong Jeff......

Great attitude from Clarko and hope we continue to follow in a similar path like we did in our boom period and started doing again now.

Have the crows ever had an assistant coach who has been head hunted for a senior job at another club? Cant think of one. Craig was an internal promotion who apparently got close to getting the West Coast job.

The club notoriously kills coaches, destroys them, been made quite public that players have a massive say in who runs the team there.

a million wouldnt be enough for what he is about to go thru, he'll soon learn that

I can't keep up, is it Clarkson, Goodwin or Bassett who's going to be the crows coach?
None of the above. Dangerfield with be the new coach, captain, Chairman and also the resident cat carer.

[Getting a brown paper bag under the table and some Balfours money to be the boot studder too]

It takes a million dollars a year to entice Walsh over to the Crows and it has to be the senior role. And they do this on a novice senior coach. Absolute desperate stuff. Imagine the furore if we did the reverse. I hope Walsh extracts a five year deal out of them.

Good luck to Walsh. If it was not for where he is going, I would wish him success, now I just wish him good luck, will need it.

Will be a sad loss for us, but good luck to him.

While Walsh is very good, I do not think he is the complete package. Worst case is he is a senior coach in name, but midfield/tactical coach in reality. Roo is shaping up as the real senior coach.

As to the post that says that cow supporters claim Walsh is the reason for our success, not Hinkley, get them to explain 2013.

I find the whole going after Walsh confusing. The guy is a strategist midfield coach. Has never previously has aspirations to be a head coach and it seems he is only going after this position because of the money being waved in his face.

The crows dont need a strategist, they need a player developer. They need an arseh*le, authoritarian coach who will bring a playing group that has seen off the past 2 coaches into line. They need a guy that can come in with a sound philosophy that brings a cultural change to the playing group. I just dont see Walsh as that guy.

I thought that Basset would have been perfect for them other than the fact it may have looked from the outside that they were just appointing another one of the old boys. Basset IS an arseh*le, do it my way type of coach. Basset IS able to develop young talent into AFL standard players and although he plays a defensive type of football it has proven to get results.

Whilst I would prefer to keep Walsh, you can't begrudge him a shot at being head coach in his own right no matter where it is. I just dont wish him any luck in his endeavour should he get the job.

I wonder if the crows are about to go into rebuild mode and need a guy they can get in, play some kids and then sack 2 years into his contract like we have seen before in many clubs. Then they will probably look at Basset.

Absolutely not. They want success. They believe they have a top four squad and are looking for a coach that delivers on the potential. At the beginning of 2014, the data suggested that they were a top four squad. Sheehan, at the end if 2014, still had five if them in his top fifty.

If Dangermouse gets wind that they are rebuilding, he is gone.

That is also why the likes of Clarkson etc were chased as the coach, but none wanted to go a get a poisoned chalice. They have to offer a million dollars a year to get an untried coach that gives them half a chance for success. Desperate stuff.

If he is gone, no hard feelings for that money I'd take it.
Hope he has a good exit strategy after no finals in 2 years, watch your back around Danger.

Well I was booted off their thread for suggesting that it was good to how we had gotten under their skin, touchy lot. Order being restored is about right in some way, (in their minds), you could tell all year crowie was devastated (as with all the other knitters) that Port was doing well, jealousy will get you nowhere.

In saying all that, how do we feel when they spike next year ?

Geez i didnt realize Walsh was 54.I guess the deal will come with a great Super package!
Seriously he may as well take it and set himself up for later in life. We will move on and continue to build as a the traditional football club we are.
I cant see us going for McKenna or Sanderson but I really rate Dew who I believe is out of contract. Not because of his PAFC history, he's just the right man for the job.

Dew still has 2 years to run on his contract, only reason you may think this is that crows going for him for senior role. So he would of been able to break that contract.

We're broke. We're posting another loss this year. We've one of the smaller footy depts in the league cause we got no money.

There is no way on gods green earth we're offering any first time coach a million a year. We don't have it

Million over 2/3 years sure, but we don't have any money
