For those interested :
  • Boston Scott is signed for 2020 at a cap hit of only 660k and is then a RFA
  • Greg Ward is signed for 2020 at a cap hit of only 570k and is then an ERFA
Even if Scott is RB3 and Ward WR4, both those contracts are so helpful if having productive players but freeing up money to sign players.

And Perkins looking good for a TE3 as well.

I should never start looking at cap management as I lose half a day of my life :)

Howie once again needs to do some creative accounting heading in to next season. Nelly is the only big figure ($9.3m) we wont be resigning, only other big contract we might not resign is Peters ($8.6m) if he retires.

The problem is the number of players on existing contracts in line for a big jump up :
  • D-Jax 3 -> 8.5
  • Alshon 6 -> 15.7 yikes!
  • Carson 8 -> 18.5 (which is still half price but he jumps to 34 in 2021)
  • Ertz 6 -> 12.5
  • Lane 7 -> 16
  • Fletch 12 -> 24
  • Graham 3.5 -> 13
  • Jackson 3 -> 10
  • Bradham 4.5 -> 10 (which I think is a team option)
  • LS/K/P 2 -> 3.5 without Cam Johnson being signed

Incredible how many offensive players you can bring in off the street who are better catchers and are better committed than Nelson Agholar.

We're one of many, many teams who persist much too long with guys simply because we invested a lot of draft capital.

We'll get hammered next week, but it's been a fun ride over the last month.

Is Jenkins a FA? I remember talk before the season of him wanting an extension. That’s a player we have to keep.

Try managing the Eagles cap in Madden, it's a frigging nightmare.

Anyway, need to eat the Alshon contract, maybe package him up with someone & hope a team will take him.

I'm not sure we will be able to trade him. With a cap hit of roughly $15m each of the next 2 years I'm not sure anyone would be dumb enough to take him even if we included a high end pick to encourage them. And if we release hit we get an even bigger cap hit for 2020 and basically excludes us from FA shopping

Love to know the thinking behind the extension, some sort of SB reward?:drunk: Surly not but wtf else could they have been thinking? Panic move cause he threatened to leave? Spare me.

When it comes to cap management each year we hear (& I believe) "trust in Howie" but the dude really does have his work cut out for him this go around.

didnt hear about Hall, apparently happened on one of the last plays of the day

as the broadcast ended Doug walked out to a player lying on the ground surrounded by trainers, I never saw any mention post game of who it was so figured it must have been nothing but maybe it was Hall.
