Seemed fine last year when it took us all the way to the Superbowl. Don't think Hurts is the problem, we changed coaches and went downhill. Think it's Johnson, guys an idiot.

Yeah dunno. On the surface, sure, it appears that way but if he finds another landing spot quickly then to me that would suggest otherwise & that the real issues lay with his previous employer.

The one question I have when it comes to Johnson is did he not change things up when it all started going to shit because he's incompetent or was it because he was not allowed to? If he was running Sirianni's scheme & had no power to do anything differently, it's mightily unfair to lay the blame for this at his feet. & then add in Hurts doing what he wanted at times & the guy was stuck between a rock & a hard place.

Yeah, think it's Johnson. Hadn't had prior experience in the NFL, only his second role in the NFL, whereas Sirianni at least had been involved for a lot longer with different teams. If you're putting a bet on it you'd go with the least experienced guy.

Sirianni also probably needs to go for failing overall, but the offense to me was down to Johnson's garbage play calling.

Hurts was absolutely a problem at times this year. The coaching should be roasted but that shouldn't be lost in the wash up of everything. Jalen regressed in a fairly big way this season.

Tough to do throwing screens on 3rd and long lol

Played at an MVP level last year, and quite frankly for 11 weeks this year. Will give him next year to get it together.

It's not exactly forced to be the case that his latitude to do so was a constant between both years. With a massive contract comes additional freedom you suspect, and that was also a massive material difference between the two years.

Whether or not he's used it well is certainly available as a concern.

What about four verts on third and short?

The problem is that we know that the change to an inappropriate deep shot was a change that Jalen made at the line late in the Seattle game (with AJ), and that Johnson and Sirriani wore the responsibility for that unfairly rather than Jalen owning it, and the only reason frankly it came out was AJ copped to it later. We know that cost us an important game, and had the potential to cost the two seed.

It's impossible to know at this point whether there were times when a more appropriate call was made and changed at the line.

Perhaps it was neither Hurts or Johnson and Steichen was just that good?

Ehh, we've already had this view once with Frank Reich after the superbowl win and history didn't vindicate that over a longer time. Would require more time to form that view.

There's this drift back towards trying to claim that nothing went awry until after our twelfth game this year. Hurts play was showing worrying signs after week one.

Upsetting the apple cart could have been something as simple as Sirriani firing DB coach Dennard Wilson, who from all accounts was extremely well liked. Follow that up with locker room favourite Derek Barnett getting released and that further sours things. Small things on the surface but accumulated throw the great overall balance of the previous season way off.

Yeah that was a mistake but on the whole it's hard to argue he wasn't leading MVP race after we beat the Bills. The guy was playing at that level for a good chunk of the season. It unravelled after that but that shouldn't be reason enough to think he won't get back to his best.

It was probably him Purdy and Lamar going for it at that point in the season. The only real standout poor performance was v the Jets. I'm sure something has happened internally, either that or the 49ers loss really ****ed them mentally.

I've got quiet confidence in Jalen, but he needs to get back to being his mobile best. All this staying in the pocket stuff is not him. It's great he wants to improve that part of his game but he needs to focus on his strengths.

To me it's all a coaching problem. Trying to change who he is as a player is a fault of coaching, and teaching him to audible into four verts is also a coaching problem. He needs be taught by competent individuals.

All Ive been hearing this season is how the Fangio scheme has all but been found out across the league.
Doubt he'd struggle as much as we did at times this season and as you say, and older coach that demands respect I think is a positive thing right now.

Do eagles have the personal to run fangio's d. Don't you need good linebackers for it to be successful ?

Well we were running it, and weren't successful so reckon the answer might be no.
