Pick 18 (22) players from Hawks, Cats and saints

Talk me through that line of thinking?

Chapman's 2007 GF was better than Dew's 2008 GF. Though Dew's was a good game, and very important to your victory, Chapman was very stiff to miss the Norm with 21 disposals and 4 goals.

Chapman still managed 22 touches and a goal in 2008, Dew's other GF appearance in 2004 netted 14 touches and a goal.

Therefore, it is very hard to make a case for Dew being a better GF performer than Chapman. Would you like to give it a try?

Just joshing LLD.

Chappy was BOG in the 2007 GF for mine.

Still you will at least admit that Dew tore Geelong a new one in the 2008 GF.

Or are you still in denial about the 2008 GF?

Was very important for you yes, had quality touches and kicked his couple of goals at crucial times. Overall his performance wouldn't go down as one of the greats I don't feel.

M.Blake? I seriously hope that is a joke..

When it comes to choosing Milne and Chapman I think most coaches in the league would choose Chappy because he can play on ball as well as up forward and is better on both sides of his body.

Although all teams have players that do specialize in an area the game has become such that versatility is highly sort after. Take for example a game where Milne is being shut down by the opposition, what do you do with him? I guess he can run through the middle but he isnt the same caliber as the other midfielders - chappy is.

I would choose Hodge on career, the guy is a gun backman but this year Enright, Gilbert, Goddard and others have been much better as Hodgy is injured. Might still make it though.

I would probably choose Kosi over Campbell again because he can go forward and back, although with Rooey, Roughy and Franklin he probably isnt needed. Gardiner is probably again a better ruck than Campbell and is coming back into his AA form.

I love Rioli, quality player. Dont know how the Hawks and Cats will keep their teams together with the likes of him coming through.

Ling is the most underrated mid in the competition. His ability to shutdown the best in the league is amazing. Will pick an attacking side though!

B: Mackie Scarlett Gilbert
HB: Enright Fisher Goddard
C: Corey Bartel Mitchell
HF: S Johnson Riewoldt Chapman
F: Roughead Franklin Rioli
R: Ottens Ablett Dal Santo
INT: Gardiner Hayes Sewell Ling
EMERG: Lewis Milne Birchall

No Hodge, i see your point but at his best he would be at least the 4th or 5th picked behind Ablett, Franklin, Reiwoldt and maybe scarlett.
Bateman is severley under rated by opposition supporters. But there is a lot of quality in that side. Definatly before Milne and Birchall. Probably Lewis at this stage too.

I reckon the 3rds in this team would beat the bottom 4 this year and take down a couple of others. Some names in theb 3rds: Dawson, Kelly, Muston, Tuck, Dempster, Armitage, McEvoy, Mumford, Steven, Ray... Have named maily Saints cos i don't know enough of the bottom level players from the other 2. I'll plug in a 3rds, see if someone else can add to it - can add and change as see fit.

FB: Ray, Dawson, Dempster
HB: R Clarke, --. --

Here's my third team, including blokes that haven't played or haven't played much this year due to injury.

HF: Jones - Lonergan - Byrnes

F: Varcoe - Williams - Osborne

Matthew Egan hasn't got in any of my sides due to his current status.

Why, because the picked one more St Kilda player then Geelong? Or was it the name mad-saint-guy and it says St Kilda beneath his name? Seriously, stupid comment.

Gee, don't those thumb down things really add to a point... Why? Because his/her team is overly weighted to StKilda. That backline for one is highly dubious given the talent on option from the three teams.

Double denial - Dew not even in 'seconds'

Mind you he never gets rolled out in top 5 or 10 lists at hawthorn but come finals, if he's fit - one of the first selected. If the cats had dew in 2008 - they win simple - unless hodge could shut him down

C: Bateman, Mitchell, Corey
HFL: Johnson, Reiwolt, Chapman
FL: Rioli, Buddy, Roughy
F: Campbell, Ablett, Sewell
I: Ottens, Bartell, Ling, Hayes

Could not include more Saints players as they have not really done much in terms of ulimate success when compared to Cats/Hawks. Would like to see where the Saints would be and how certain players in there side would cope if they had turned over 35 players and debuted 5/6 players after 9 rounds. Cats are proven champions full stop.

B: Goddard, Scarlett, Hodge
HB: Enright, Fisher, Mackie
C: Bartel, Hayes, Dal Santo
HF: Rioli, Mooney, S Johnson
F: Ablett, Franklin, Riewoldt
R: Ottens, Montagna, Sewell
I: Mitchell, Corey, Kosi, Ling

That's as good as it gets I reckon.

I should have put him in the third side for sure.

When every player is fit and in form:

B:
Campbell Brown; Matthew Scarlett; Trent Croad
HB: Brendan Goddard; Sam Fisher; Luke Hodge
C: Brad Sewell; Sam Mitchell; Nick Dal Santo
HF: Paul Chapman; Nick Riewoldt; Cyril Rioli
F: Steve Johnson; Lance Franklin; Jarryd Roughead
R: Brad Ottens; Jimmy Bartel; Garry Ablett
INT: Justin Koschitzke; Joel Selwood; Lenny Hayes; Corey Enright

EMG: Joel Corey; Cameron Ling; Chance Bateman

Mooney is way better than Roughead go missing for weeks at a time.

I'm giving him the nod over all others for CHF. Roo needs room to move down the wing and Buddy just loves to muck around in the goalsquare.

Mooney is great on the mark and lead and can kick the ball long.

Has that one miss from a tight angle close out in a grand final really ruined his reputation?
