Thought he had already signed it...
He probably has - and will be announced tomorrow. Reckon they probably offered the same deal to Butters but he preferred a shorter deal for more $$ p.a.

Trying to lock in our mids to focus on key position CHF and CHB positions next year.

Would you prefer to lose him?
Giving Butters two years now and six years when that runs out to take him to 2032 - perfectly normal and reasonable

Giving Rozee eight years now to take him to 2032 - lAuGhAbLe

Where was he going? Watch his game fall to s**t especially if ken remains. Have any long term contracts ever worked? I'm sure Kane will back this one though.

Lance Franklin and Alistair lynch both worked.

And of all the current long term contracts most of them seem to be working out fine: Petracca, Martin, Lynch, Whitfield, Coniglio, Greene, etc

Tom Boyd’s didn’t work out but then again he probably should’ve won a norm smith.

Grundy’s is the only big one that I can think of that was a 100% fail.

If we offered him 5 years (as an example), the list managers of 17 other clubs would be on the phone to Connor’s management with 8 year offers. It’s an absolute no brainer.

I get the criticism of long term deals industry wide. But it’s the norm for star players now.

Happy about this. I had thought it might go to Butters, but Connor is a gun. Nice for our captain to be one of our best players, in the midfield, and not a Norwood flog.

Good post until the last 5 words that really seems unnecessary.

Jonas played 40 games for Norwood and 216 games for Port.

He will be remembered as a port Adelaide player, and didn’t seem like a flog to me.

Not letting that white noise get to you. Tom would be proud.
