Non issue. He'll only be 32 when the contract expires. Signing him to that contract is effectively just signing him up for the remainder of his career. Obviously you would do that no worries.

Lance Franklin and Alistair lynch both worked.

And of all the current long term contracts most of them seem to be working out fine: Petracca, Martin, Lynch, Whitfield, Coniglio, Greene, etc

Tom Boyd’s didn’t work out but then again he probably should’ve won a norm smith.

Grundy’s is the only big one that I can think of that was a 100% fail.

If we offered him 5 years (as an example), the list managers of 17 other clubs would be on the phone to Connor’s management with 8 year offers. It’s an absolute no brainer.

I get the criticism of long term deals industry wide. But it’s the norm for star players now.

Jonas played 40 games for Norwood and 216 games for Port.

He will be remembered as a port Adelaide player, and didn’t seem like a flog to me.
