Just because West Coast/Kelly/Geelong is not anything to do with how Cerra is valued. You are trying to compare night & day.

Not really, he wanted to go home boo hoo
Just like Cerra, and he picked one club, maybe like Cerra.
I'll give you that Kelly was coming off his best ever season, and probs won't reach those heights again.
Cerra, on the other hand, is very likely to reach higher heights in the future.
2 first rounders minimum

Kelly and Cerra are quite different.

One is a 21 year old top five pick with two top five B&F finishes in four years with nearly 80 games experience and an improvement curve still going way up, the other was a guy who had spent two seasons away playing good footy but was four to five years older (missing out on 100 games).

Cerra is more valuable, but we aren't talking about the same sort of first round picks in exchange.

I want their first this year and next. I'll budge on sending back our future second.

I'd like the exchange to be:

Cerra, Acres, 2022 2nd round pick for #6, 2022 1st round pick + a player under 22 under contract

I know its a different sport and he is under contract but LOVE how Tottenham have told Harry Kane your going nowhere son. Because Man City wont pay what they think he is worth. The media there go with the same narrative once a player wants out he gets his way... na.. F#$k them your staying.

The difference being Harry Kane signed a new long term contract not 12 months ago and now wants out.

How much would you expect to receive for a 21 year old Scott Pendlebury?

That's what Bell should ask for.

The only similarity is a guy wanting to go home. The clubs know that too.
If McIntosh wanted to come home, I'd back the Tiges in with other clubs/players in the deal. Cerra is exactly what they need.

First and second rounder is the best we will get
Nah, there is a history of highly rated juniors playing regular high quality AFL going for two first round picks with a second going back.

Two firsts is the starting point.

I don't see a lot of value in loading up on too many 2021 picks in the 20 to 30 range unless we have trade targets in mind and we're not hearing much on the jungle drums about that. Our side already has an uncomfortably high number of its most talented players sub 50 games and they have to be played if we are going to get anywhere before retention issues become significant through lack of success.
I say we have to get our mitts on Carltons 2022 R1 pick and that is simply not going to happen* while we're also demanding pick 6 without something better than a second rounder going back. We need to find a way to send a late first round pick back to Carlton or allow them to downgrade their 2020 pick a few places to extract value.
E.G.
Pick 6 2022 R1 for Cerra and pick 18(+-1) (which we obtain by downgrading pick 8)

That values Cerra around pick 4 assuming you value Carltons 2022 R1 pick at 9 (for context the same deal but a mid second rounder instead of a late first values him at pick 3). Best case its worth 1, worst case (Carlton flag) its worth pick 6.

*Note I hope I'm wrong and we do get 6 and 2022 R1 for Cerra and 2022 R2

We do have a lot of delisted players to replace, and not a lot of picks to do it with. The picks will be handy.

I think the best we can hope for is 6, 24 and future second.

The best I’m hoping for is 6 and 24. If Cerra was coming to my club I would be livid if they gave up a first and two second rounders for him. Two first rounders and I would microwave my membership.
Lets see what happens. I hope Belly proves me the hell wrong.

I don't see that we have delisted more than a normal number of players. In fact we've only created 3 main list spots so far with Cerra still here. I expect we will delist at least one more main lister.

I just think we are already too young a list demographic to be loading up on yet more eighteen year olds that are not elite talents, but spending a moderately high amount of capital on them (mid second to mid third rounders). Spread the elite picks across this and the next draft. Plus an extra high pick might be useful in trading if we had a good season next year and become more of a destination club. (Note if the recruiting team think this year is going to be much stronger then next forget everything I said)

We really don't have that many main list players to replace:

Conca
Giro
Hill
Duman
Cerra

That's five main list spots. Surely we should be thinking about upgrading Hughes and Schultz. If so that leaves only 3 active draft picks. If we get a good pick for Cerra then combined with our existing 1st and 2nd rounder we will be taking 3 picks inside 30. And without any other player movement that will be that.

If we want multiple picks for Cerra, or downgrading a 1st rounder to get multiple later picks, or even bringing in a guy like Clark, we will either be de-listing guys like Wilson or sending guys like Valente to the rookie list. (Or perhaps Valente retires and we pay him out.)
